Coach Boeheim Quotes
Canisius at Syracuse
Dec. 30, 2002
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
"There was the four-minute stretch that we played real good and that was really the difference. When Kueth (Duany) hit that shot, they really had to play us man-to-man. Nobody is going to guard Carmelo (Anthony) in the low-post area. Overall, we had to make some plays. We made a couple deflections and steals on the defensive end. We took good care of the ball. We didn’t turn it over."
On Hakim Warrick:
"He’s our best offensive threat inside. He made some great plays. He went after the ball on the boards exceptionally well. Hakim has been very solid for us this year. He’s really matured and gotten stronger. He is having an outstanding year.
On Canisius’ play:
"They’re a very good team. They’ve got good players. The two seniors are excellent players. I think Canisius is going to beat a lot of people."
On Carmelo Anthony:
"After he banged that first free throw, he got his composure back and made 10 out of his last 11 free throws. He made that good three-pointer that was wide open in the corner and then made a great pass to Craig (Forth). He had to play through it. I thought he got a couple of tough rebounds and made a couple of great passes."
