Orangewomen Varsity Eight Remains Undefeated
Syracuse won the race with a time of 6:22.3, five seconds ahead of second-place Yale. Cornell was third in 6:44.3. Heather DiLoreto (East Amherst, NY) served as the coxswain. Jillian Kott (McLean, VA) was the stroke and Meredith Kyle (Rochester, NY) was the bow for the varsity eight which is ranked sixth in the nation in the US Rowing Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll. Yale is currently ranked 10th and Cornell is No. 19.
Yale won the junior varsity eight race in 6:44.1, followed by Cornell in 6:54.0. SU was third in 7:09.4. Cornell swept the novice races. The Big Red won the novice eight race with a time of 6:46.5. The Orangewomen were second in 7:02. In the novice four race, Cornell was first in 7:58.2, followed by Syracuse in 8:31.3.
The varsity eight will try for its fifth straight win this season when the Orangewomen travel to Philadelphia next Saturday to compete against Pennsylvania and Northeastern.
