Coach Boeheim Quotes
No. 11/11 at No. 25/-- Syracuse

Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
“I thought tonight our defense inside was much better. I thought that was really the difference in the game. Another key was when Carmelo went out, Craig made two big plays and we got control of the game. Craig was great tonight. He found Gerry twice tonight for two threes. When Carmelo came back in he really picked it up on the defensive end and rebounded the ball on the defensive glass. Then Gerry and Carmelo ran the pick-and-roll and Carmelo hit that three and that was it. Those were the key plays.”
On sophomore Craig Forth:
“His play was key to the ball game. He was much more active and we looked for him better. We know people are going to double Carmelo and we have to make teams pay when they do that and Craig did. He had a great game tonight.”
On the return of freshman Billy Edelin:
“I think getting Billy back will really help us. Carmelo is playing too many minutes and you can’t ask him to do all the things he’s doing on offense and play defense for 40 minutes. We’ll also be able to get Kueth back at forward a little bit, and with Billy in the lineup I think we’ll be fresher at the end games.”
On the presence of freshman Carmelo Anthony:
“He had 16 points, but Craig got four baskets because they were double-teaming him. His presence out there gets you those kind of opportunities. For a freshman to get 10 or 11 rebounds every time out is very unusual when you look at college basketball. Not too many guys average those numbers rebound-wise and handle the ball as well as he does from the perimeter.”
