In the second quarter, senior running back Makonnen Fenton caught a six-yard touchdown pass to give Temple its first six points of the game. It was Fenton's first receiving touchdown of the season and his third TD of the year (two rushing). He has now scored six career touchdowns for the Owls.
Junior defensive back Pete McBride recorded his first interception of the season and career when he picked off Syracuse quarterback R.J. Anderson in the second quarter. It was Temple's seventh interception of the season.
Senior punter Garvin Ringwelski booted a season-long 57-yard punt to pin the Orangemen in at the one-yard line early in the second quarter. It was the third time in his career that he punted the ball at least 57 yards. Last season, he recorded a 57-yard punt against Cincinnati. In 2000, he kicked the football a career-long 58 yards against Pittsburgh.
During Temple's first scoring drive, junior running back Jamil Porter caught a season-long 21-yard pass from Walter Washington.
Porter registered his third career rushing touchdown (third of the season) in the fourth quarter when he carried the ball into the endzone from one-yard out.
Senior kicker Jared Davis kicked a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for Temple. It was his eighth FG of the season (8-of-18). Davis is now 3-for-5 this season from 20-29 yards out.
