Syracuse Player Quotes

Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Sophomore Gerry McNamara
On the game:
“I think this was our best game. We needed a game like this. We needed to really run up the score and feel good about ourselves. The energy was high even at the end when our guys off the bench went in, so it was just a great game for us to build our confidence.”
“When you look at where we are now and where we were last year at this point, I see a lot of similarities. I don’t think we were playing really good basketball at this point last year, so I think it’s just a matter of time before we bring it together.”
“I just think we played hard. We got after it. We made good decisions and knocked our shots down. Even the guys that came in off the bench really gave us a boost tonight. If we’re going to be successful, we need the guys on the bench to be successful.”
Sophomore Billy Edelin:
On the game:
“I just think we tried to get up on them, pressure them and get some easy steals and get some easy baskets instead of always having to set up.”
On the play of the SU reserves:
“I’m so excited for those guys. Those guys work hard everyday and they don’t always get the chance to come out here and play, but they still give it their all. Hopefully we can blow some more teams out and get them some more points.”
Junior Craig Forth
On the play of Hakim Warrick:
“He’s looking for the open pass. When he gets doubled, he looks to pass out. He’s getting some loose balls at the top of the key and dribbling down for dunks and that’s the type of stuff he has to do. That’s stuff he’s capable of doing and that’s why he’s getting looked at.”
Junior Josh Pace
On the game:
“Everything was clicking tonight. Scoring 100 points, it was just something that happened, it wasn’t a goal. We just played real well on offense tonight.”
On how well the starters play together:
“We feel very comfortable together. We’re used to playing together. We played last year together a lot and we had that long run in the tournament, so it’s just a matter of getting the freshmen involved and if we can get them clicking with us, then we’re going to be a dangerous team.”
On the play of Craig Forth:
“I think he’s got his confidence back. He’s playing like he played his freshman year. I told him a couple days ago, that I’m glad to have the Freshman Craig Forth back, because he just went out there and played. He didn’t think, he just played. It seems like he’s gotten back to that. I just think that maybe he was thinking too much about what people were saying. But, when he goes out there and just plays, you see what he does. He’s active, he’s a leader, he’s talking.”
