Syracuse Player Quotes
Sophomore guard Billy Edelin
On SU’s full-court offense:
“It makes it easier because the (other) team tries to take away your strengths, but when you get out and run, you don’t give them a chance to get back and set up their defense and you get a lot of easy baskets, so I think it makes us play a lot harder.”
On SU’s defense:
“We’re just helping each other rotate out on shooters and trying to get on the glass. I think we just made a conscious effort. We knew it was an early game: if we didn’t get out and play hard early, we might slip behind and be a little lackadaisical. We just tried to get off to a good start.”
On SU’s progress:
“I think the biggest thing is, at the beginning of the year, we were playing once a week. We weren’t playing a lot of games and other teams had played way more games. Now we’re starting to play more games and we’re getting a better rhythm on offense and defense. That’s why we’re playing better.”
Freshman guard Louie McCroskey
On his performance:
“I was frustrated. I know I did wrong. I made two silly turnovers in the game that I shouldn’t have made.”
Freshman forward Demetris Nichols
On his shooting:
“When I went in there, I think I had a lot of confidence in my shot, so I took them.”
On the team’s shooting:
“It’s so big, but I think we’re all coming along shooting real well. We have Louie (McCroskey) back and he can shoot. We need G-Mac (Gerry McNamara) and Louie. I think we all can shoot pretty well.”
On his performance:
“I do think that I am very comfortable with my game. I think it’s coming along slowly but surely.”
