Syracuse Women's Basketball Quotes
Syracuse vs. West Virginia
Manley Field House, Syracuse, N.Y.
January 24, 2004
Head Coach Keith Cieplicki
On Julie McBride becoming SU’s all-time assists leader:
“She’s doing a lot more right than not. To her credit, a lot of times she’ll do things I don’t want and make great plays. I trust her decisions. It’s a great accomplishment for Julie.”
On the game:
“I felt we were a little flat defensively, so I tried to give a little more of myself on the sidelines to raise the level. I thought we did a nice job on being more patient, and we really worked the ball inside to (Chineze Nwagbo). Our players did a nice job and they had a nice rhythm. We’ve been doing a better job. Our turnovers were down today, so overall I think (the game) was a pretty good accomplishment.”
Syracuse Player Quotes
Junior Center Chineze Nwagbo
“The game plan is to read the defense. You have to take what the defense gives you. They came out prepared and physical, and I didn’t expect anything less. I never expect anything less. We’re going to be playing tough games, so you have to go out and play 100 percent every time.”
Senior Guard Julie McBride
On playing a zone defense:
“We’re tough in the zone, but Sarah (Wegrzynowicz) hasn’t played it and Lauren (Kohn) is new, so we’re going to have some problems. I think when we play the zone the right way, we play it very well.”
On where to go from here: “We have ten games left. I still believe we can beat anyone. In the BIG EAST, anyone can beat anyone. We have ten games left and we just have to keep getting better with every one.”
