Junior Josh Pace:
On having a week of practice before the next game:
“We have to get back to practice and get back to working hard, starting tomorrow. It’s not really a week off; it’s a week of work. It’s time to pay attention to what’s going on with teams we’ll be playing, watch teams and scout them because they’ll be scouting us. We need to give a better effort than we did tonight and get back to playing well in all aspects of the game.”
Junior Hakim Warrick
On adjusting to Pitt’s physical style of play:
“We knew coming in that they’re a tough team and it was going to be a physical game. They’re a physical team and they’re going to play aggressively with you. You just have to respond to that and step up to the challenge.”
On the impact of the freshmen:
“They did a good job coming in. I think it was really good for them to go out there and get this experience because they’re just going to learn from it and get better. When you see the young guys come in and try so hard to play well it really lifts you and makes you want to play more.
Freshman guard Louie McCroskey
On waiting his turn:
“I think it’s easy to just be out there, but trying to contribute while you’re out there … that’s the key for us freshmen. We realize that our time is not now, but we’ve got to work towards it. We’re going to all keep our heads up.”
On where to go from here:
“You always learn a lesson from each game. I think the lesson we’ve already learned is you have to come out and play with intensity at all times. You can’t take a day off. All the guys are tough and have good character. We have a week ahead before Virginia Tech to go back to the paper and learn what we need to do. I think we’ll be fine. We won 13 straight games for a reason. We’re a good team. We just have to go out and play with heart.”
