Junior guard Billy Edelin
On the response he got from fans when he entered the game with 8:44 left in the first half:
“I didn’t know what to expect, but makes you feel really good when the fans stand up and support you like that. It made it a lot easier for me to do what I wanted to do which was go out, contribute, and help my team win.”
On how his return helps the team:
“It’s one of the key elements for us to be successful. Since I was on the team that won the National Championship I think that I can help the younger guys as well as contribute to the team. I think me returning is one of the keys, but a lot of other things need to happen for us as a team.”
On his performance:
“It took some time for me to get loose, but I felt like I made some decent plays. I’m just trying to make the team better by helping other guys continue to play well.”
Senior guard/forward Josh Pace
On playing different positions:
“It’s not hard. That’s something that we work on in practice. It’s something we need, so I’ll do it because it helps the team in the long run.”
On the return of junior guard Billy Edelin:
“It was good to have him back. Being able to survive everything he’s been through and stay mentally focused says a lot about his character. We’re proud of him. With him back we’re a better team.”
Senior forward Hakim Warrick
On the upcoming game against Colgate:
“We want to come out and play every game well. Against Colgate we’re going to need to take care of the ball better because I think that they’re going to be more patient than St. Bonaventure. I also think we’re going to have to put more pressure on them on the defensive end.”
On having all of last year’s starters play together:
“It was fun seeing all of us out there again. There was a lot of experience out there. Now we’re bringing the younger guys along with us. I think they did a good job of coming in during the second half and picking up where we left off.”
Junior guard Gerry McNamera
On the role of bench players:
“One of the things that Coach Boeheim stressed after the game was needing energy off the bench. We need a supporting cast that’s going to come in and give it all they have.”
On the play of freshman guard Josh Wright:
“Josh did some very good things tonight. He did some great things tonight that helped the team win.”
On how the fans responded to the return of junior guard Billy Edelin:
“It must have made him feel great to come back and have people be so nice to him. The fans here have been great to Billy. He’s been through a lot, and these fans have stood by him through the whole thing. That says a lot about the fans and about this program.”
