Coach Boeheim Quotes
On playing rival Georgetown:
“This was no surprise, they played great on the road against Pittsburgh and at Villanova. They played with tremendous poise and did all of the things you can do to win on the road. Our guys just wouldn’t let the game get away.
“I thought this was a game where veteran guys made plays. Louie, Gerry – different guys, that’s nice to see. This was a heck of a battle. Georgetown has been a great road team. They’ve played probably almost better on the road than they have at home this year. Every game is going to be difficult. We just have to find a way to win, and tonight we did.
“This was a great game, a well-played game. Both teams went at it the whole way and it came down to a couple of plays to start overtime. That was just enough. It was a great basketball game.”
On senior forward Hakim Warrick:
“He’s difficult to stop down low. He just kept going to the basket and making plays. That’s what he’s done for us all year long.”
On junior guard Gerry McNamara:
“He’s a special player. He gets in position. He made a couple of hard threes tonight. I’m shocked he missed that one at the end of regulation – he doesn’t miss that too many times. It doesn’t matter what he (shoots from the field), he’s going to make the next shot, and that’s all you have to know.”
On sophomore center Terrence Roberts:
He’s very important to our defense. He’s been important since the beginning. That’s always been a factor. Terrence had some spots tonight where he… couldn’t get his hands up and couldn’t get himself into position, but he’s been good for us and I’m sure he’ll bounce back on Saturday.
