Press Conference Introducing Desmond Robinson and Defensive Line Coach Tim Cross
January 20, 2005
Opening Statement:
“I would like to take this opportunity to introduce two more coaches to join our staff. I would like to start off and talk about Desmond Robinson, our new running back coach.
“Desmond is a person who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. He is very highly recommended. He has played major college football against Syracuse. He knows the battles of Syracuse and Pittsburgh and he knows the history. He has coached at Notre Dame for a number of years. He coached the running backs there. He has also coached at West Virginia. He has coached at other schools prior to that. He is very qualified and I think the kind of person he is fits the profile. He is very enthusiastic and very intelligent. He has great integrity and he will be a fine addition to our staff.
“The next person I would like to talk to you about is our new defensive line coach, Tim Cross. He is a person who I worked with at the University of Texas. He has been with that program for several years. Prior to that, he was the head football coach at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver. As a matter of fact, he was there when I was in Denver. He was the defensive coordinator there and that high school has produced many outstanding football players. He did great things at Texas with the development of players in all ways. He is as highly-respected in that organization as there is. You can ask any player at the University of Texas about Tim Cross and you will get great feedback. He has studied under me for a year and I am excited that he is here. Our players are going to feel him immediately. He can get to the core of people and his whole world is about the development of young people. I am excited for him and his family.
“Both of these guys are family people. I am pleased to welcome them into the Syracuse family and they are great additions.”
