Syracuse Player Quotes
Junior Ashley McMillen
On playing in the Dome:
“Being able to come in here and play we wanted to set a tone for the rest of the year in the Dome. I think our team really came together in the end. We pulled ourselves together and got a victory out of it.”
On shooting in the Dome:
“In the beginning we came to the men’s games and just seeing the perception in the back of the court we were a little hesitant like ‘Wow there’s a lot of space back there,’ but once we started practicing in the Dome and getting comfortable it was fine. I really don’t think my shooting is affected by it.”
On hitting five 3-pointers:
“It felt great. It’s always good to get those shots off and have them go in. My teammates were doing a great job of giving me open looks and getting me the ball. We were just trying to work the ball around because they were playing a zone for a little bit.”
On complementing sophomore Vaida Sipaviciute:
“It always helps when shooters and other guards can stand up and knock some shots down. It opens up a lot of the middle and gives her and the rest of the girls a lot more opportunities inside.”
On the Dome environment:
“I think our fans had a lot to do with it. Down the stretch when we had to make big plays our fans were behind us and the students who came out and the people in the community who came out really did help and just having that kind of atmosphere was great.”
Sophomore Vaida Sipaviciute
On being a member of the starting five in SU’s return to the Dome:
“Yeah of course it’s a great feeling when you’re starting the first game in the Dome. It feels great to win. It was a great experience.”
On the difference in the last five minutes of the game:
“Basically, we just had to pick it up. We defended better. We didn’t let them get the ball into the post.”
On playing in the Dome:
“It’s was so much fun. We want to bring as many people as we can here so we need to win, but it’s great to play here.”
Junior Tracy Harbut
On the Dome’s atmosphere:
