Post-Game Game Quotes
Head Coach Keith Cieplicki
“I thought we played our hearts out tonight. I’m just real proud of the effort. It was a great basketball game.”
On Tracy Harbut’s play:
“Tracy gave us a huge lift. They played pretty small a lot, and we felt playing Tracy at the four would give us an advantage. I thought Tracy was very good. You play like you practice. She’s been practicing very well as of late.”
On Jessica Richter’s play:
“What I like about Jessica is she plays big in big games. She’s very competitive. Besides scoring tonight, I thought her off the ball play was tremendous. A lot of those things don’t show up in the stats. She had a couple of deflections off inbounds plays. She just bring such great energy that we just let her play.”
On Richter’s BIG EAST performances:
“She loves the game. You’re always looking for players that love playing and don’t worry about anything else. It’s obvious the way she plays. She expects to win and tries to raise the level of her teammates. We knew we were fortunate go get her.”
On what he takes from this loss:
“I’m really proud of this team. We had a tough loss Saturday and were able to bounce back tonight. We want to keep getting better, and the way we played tonight says to me that we’re getting better.”
Senior guard Rochelle Coleman
On Rutger’s 10-0 run:
“We had some breakdowns on defense and we didn’t score on offense. We didn’t finish the game. We were in it the whole game, but in the end, when we really needed to be there, we were lacking in some aspects.”
On SU’s zone:
“We played it the first game and it worked pretty well. We came out and executed our defense very well tonight.”
On what they tried to improve on from the last Rutgers game:
“To keep our defense intense and active, and to keep our turnovers down. It felt like we did a better job than we did the last game.”
On whether she felt more comfortable this time around versus Rutgers’ pressure:
“The first time was different because they were the first team that did that. The second time you know what’s coming and prepare for it.”
Sophomore forward Tracy Harbut
On breaking Rutgers down off the dribble:
“We just tried to attack them as much as possible.”
On her career-high scoring effort:
“I just try to contribute any way I can, whether I’m on the bench or out playing. I do anything I can do for my team. I just try to practice hard and support my teammates.”
Freshman guard Jessica Richter
On breaking Rutgers down off the dribble:
“If you spread the floor, it really isn’t that hard to go by people. I think Tracy, and everyone else, did a great job of that tonight.”
