The 1993 Fiesta Bowl Most Valuable Defensive Player, Mitchell led the Orange to victory with eight tackles and two sacks in the contest. He was a three-time All-Big East selection, twice making the first team in 1992 and 1993. Mitchell ranks fifth in career sacks at SU. He played for San Francisco, New Orleans, and Washington in the NFL. Mitchell was named to Syracuse University's All-Century team in November, 1999.
