Today’s win sets the series record at 2-1 in favor of the Orange.
Today’s win stopped Syracuse’s five-game losing streak. It also stopped Syracuse's first BIG EAST win in its last 12 games. It is the first BIG EAST win in Coach Greg Robinson’s tenure.
Today’s victory improved Syracuse’s home record to 3-3, clinching at least a .500 record in the Carrier Dome for the 25th time in 27 seasons.
Connecticut won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half.
Lavar Lobdell’s 25-yard reception during the opening drive was the longest of his career.
Syracuse has scored in the first quarter in 9-of-11 games this season.
Syracuse’s 86-yard scoring drive matches the longest scoring drive of the season. (86 yards at Wake Forest).
With his nine completions, quarterback Perry Patterson moved into fifth place in single-season completions at SU with 151. He attempted 18 passes to move into third place at SU in single-season pass attempts with 284. His third quarter touchdown pass was his 12th of the season and moved him into a tie for ninth on the single-season touchdown pass list with Don McPherson.
Jameel McClain recorded 2.5 tackles for loss for a total of seven yards, moving him into sixth on the SU single-season tackles for a loss ledger. He has 14.5 tackles for loss in 2006 for a total 61 yards.
Syracuse recorded five sacks, increasing its season total to 34, tying it for fourth on the Orange’s season record list.
Nick Chestnut recorded his second career interception in the second quarter.
Patrick Shadle made two field goals against Connecticut, moving up the single-season field goals made list with 16, tying two others for fourth place. It is the most field goals for an SU kicker since John Biskup kicked 16 in 1992.
Delone Carter recorded his second career 100-yard rushing game and tied a career high with two receptions.
Curtis Brinkley caught his first career touchdown pass on an 18-yard reception in the third quarter. Along with his one-yard touchdown run, it marked the first multi-touchdown game of his career. His 19 rushing attempts set a career high.
Joe Fields recorded the first multi-interception game of his career.
Syracuse’s three interceptions moved it into 10th on the single-season interceptions list with 17, tying six other SU squads.
