That same year the team raced at the Henley Regatta in England ... His sophomore season he won the bronze medal at the IRA's as a member of the varsity eight ... He would remain a key member of the varsity eight for the next two years.
International Competition: He was selected as part of the 1980 U.S. Olypic Team, but did not race due to the country's boycott of the Games in Moscow ... He made the team again in 1984 and sat in the 5-seat that won the silver medal for the U.S. eight ... Four years later, he raced in the 1988 Olympic Games in the Fours w/Coxswain that placed 5th ... Darling was also a member of the crew of the America's Cup winner "Stars and Stripes" in 1986.
