At SU: four letters…three-year starter at right guard…called the best offensive lineman in the BIG EAST by Miami head coach Dennis Erickson during senior year…played guard and tackle during his career…started 34 games and played in 41 during his career…played 5 years for the Orange, but didn’t turn 21 until his last year…was an outstanding run blocker and became a strong pass blocker as well…redshirted in 1988…
Senior year: Football News second team All-America…UPI honorable mention All-America…first team All-BIG EAST and an ECAC All-Star for the second straight year…started all 12 games…helped an Orange offense that set an all-time record for first downs in a season and accumulated the second most total offensive yards in Orange history…team passed for over 100 yards and ran for over 100 yards in every game and twice broke the school record for yards in a game (634 vs. East Carolina, 675 vs. Rutgers)…team had over 400 yards in total offense six times…had over 200 yards rushing six times and over 200 yards passing five times…
Junior year: was an ECAC All-Star and a second-team All-BIG EAST Conference selection…started all 12 games…helped the offensive line earn the game ball in the season opener vs. Vanderbilt…team had six 200-plus yard rushing games on the season…instrumental in SU’s upset win over #5 Florida, as the offense ran for 250 yards and had 412 yards in total offense…
Sophomore year: started 10 games before a badly bruised thigh forced him to miss the West Virginia, Miami and Aloha Bowl games…so strong at his position that SU had to move All-America center John Flannery to guard to replace him…
Freshman year: played in seven games behind Mike Bernard at left tackle…
High School: All-Long Island, All-Nassau Country, Daily News All-Star for Coach Don Crummell…also lettered in track and field (shot put and discus)…ranked 14 in his class…National Honor Society treasurer…member of the U.S. National Achievement Academy…Who’s Who Among High School Students…
