Player Quotes
Mike Leveille
Mike Leveille
On being back as a veteran player and leader…
“It was a great honor being selected as a captain with the tradition and the history of this program and I am really honored to be in a leadership position. I learned great things from the guys that were above me, the Brian Crocketts and Brett Bucktooths. Now I think it’s my turn to play that role and help out with some of the younger guys on our team.”
On other veteran players on the team…
“Those guys did a great job last year as freshmen and that’s not as easy thing to do and now they’re back for their second year and they got the experience. They’re more used to our systems and our offense and we’re expecting great things out of them and I’m glad they’re on our team.”
On Greg Rommel and Steve Brooks…
“They haven’t missed a step and they’re ready to go. They’re two extremely talented players. They have a lot of experience. Greg would have been a big loss for us if he hadn’t come back, with his leadership and him being familiar with everything here.”
On last year’s slow start…
“I think it was a really hard start last year and it would have been really easy for our team to pack it in and give up, but I think it showed a lot about our team and our leaders and we fought back and we know we don’t want a big hole like that again this year.”
Patrick Perritt
On the offense…
“With the six guys we are going to have out there, every guy can shoot, every guy can dodge. We have Dan Hardy and Kenny Nims back at attack. They like dodging from behind and they can both feed the ball, so I think it’s going to be scary with the shooters we have up top and down low.”
Kenny Nims
On the slow start last year…
“We think about it a lot. Nobody wants to start out like that and it gives us more motivation to work hard in practice to not do that again.”
On the sophomore class…
“Everyone is starting to come together and find their roles and we’re really looking forward to the start of the season.”
On the offense…
“Teams are going to have to come up with they can to stop us. Our offense is very deep. Everyone is going to get a chance to make plays.”
Max Bartig
On the transition from high school to college…
“The coaching is higher and the skill level is better. Everyone around you makes you a better player in this program.”
Dustin Palmer
On when Greg Rommel went down…
“That was a huge loss. When you lose someone like that, it’s a focal point of opposing defenses and a midfielder of that caliber you don’t see very often.”
On having Greg Rommel back…
“He’s a guy who has been there for four, five years. He’s got tons of experience. He’s veteran on the field. He takes us through practice and he helps us out as much as he can. It’s a huge help having someone like that back.”
Peter Coluccini
On this year’s team…
“Our offense is high powered and looking good. Everyone says you lost those defensemen what are you going to do? But then again, you have all these young guys stepping in that no one knows about and they’re playing great and we expect great things.”
On starting role…
“I am a lot more comfortable knowing what to expect, but at the same time, I like to go out there and have fun. It’s important when you play the teams we play.”
On last year’s start…
“You don’t like to see a season start off the way it did last year, but you learn a lot from those experience and as long as you take something from those. You got something from it. To come out there this year, and play consistent, I think it’s going to be the most important for our team and for me individually.”
On losing weight...
“I feel more mobile and a little more in shape and flexible, all the things you need to be as a goalie. My body can hold up a little better and I can move around a lot quicker in the cage.”
Matt Tierney
On the attack…
“They are by far the best I have ever played against.”
On the team’s depth…
“I feel like there are positions always up in the air and the bench is full of guys with talent.”
Evan Brady
On the defense’s experience…
“I think we’re pretty experienced. With the experience we got last year and only losing one guy, I think we’re real confident and a lot more mature than we were last year on offense and defense.”
On the team’s depth…
“We got a bunch of people that can play and guys that can play a couple different positions. We got three attackmen that are probably the best in the country and the three backing them up they could play at any other school in the country.”
On Greg Rommel’s return…
“He’s another senior leader, and someone that everyone respects on the team and obviously, a great lacrosse player.”
