Syracuse Player Quotes
Syracuse vs. Northeastern
December 30, 2007
Syracuse, N.Y. - Carrier Dome
Scoop Jardine, Fr., G
On his best collegiate game:
"I feel great. I have you guys all around me, so I must have done something good. I'm working hard in practice, so it is good to see it playing off."
On BIG EAST play and the lack of experience and what to expect:
"Paul (Harris) has been walking us through it and it is all about playing hard. The mistakes that we are making in these games, we can not make in the BIG EAST. So we have to play hard and play smart.
On defense and what has been the toughest adjustment:
"Knowing the zone and knowing your spots. I constantly go over the spots with coach (Mike)
Donte Greene, Fr., F
On the second half defense:
"Second half, we definitely picked up our defense. We just have to want to play defense. When our team wants to play defense, we are probably one of the best defensive teams in the country. When we get lazy and worry about getting our shots is when we can be the worst defensive team in the country. We just have to work on it and stay focused and we should be fine."
On not forcing his shot in the first half:
"I understood the triangle two on me and Jonny (Flynn), I wasn't going to force anything and make myself look bad. I was being double teamed, so I tried to get my teammates the ball. Scoop (Jardine) had a great game. He was getting to the basket. Everyone did what they were supposed to do."
On Jardine and the balance of the offense:
"Scoop had a great game. I didn't know he had as many points as he did. As I said, I think we are one of the most talented teams in the country. We can all have a big game; we can all score on any given night. Now we have to prove we can play defense and we will be alright."
Paul Harris, So., F
On his role as a leader on the team:
"I have played more games then anyone on the team. I'm one of the oldest players on the team, but these young guys are good. They are going to play regardless. We have to be ready. There is no turning back now. This is serious and we just have to be ready."
On his rebounding:
"I got a couple of text messages asking me what happened to the guy who used to get 10 or 11 rebounds. The past couple of games I was getting only five or seven. Tonight I went out there and tried to grab every one.
On getting knocked down on a screen:
"Yeah I ran into a pick. I stayed down though because I was trying to get a foul. I was fine."
