A cum laude graduate, Mark Winter was a Dean’s List student all eight semesters, a John Ben Snow Scholar and a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Scholastic Honorary Fraternity. He was elected co-captain of the 1970 freshman lacrosse team and was the recipient of the Roy D. Simmons Award as a senior in 1973. As an SU undergraduate, he was a youth counselor at the DeWitt Community Church. While at Dickinson College, he was both assistant coach and interim head coach of the school’s lacrosse team.
From 1976-77, Mark was assistant public defender for Dauphin country in Pennsylvania. Since 177, he has maintained a successful private law practice in Hershey.
Currently president of the Hershey Library Endowment Trust Fund and a director of the library’s capital campaign, Mark is past president of library board. He has been a member of the Hershey Rotary Club since 1983. Former chair of the Derry Township Municipal Authority, he is a solicitor for the township’s Zoning Hearing Board. Mark has served on boards for the Concertante Chamber Music Ensemble and Hershey Museum. His involvement in youth sports has included coach for the Hershey Youth Soccer Association, co-founder and coach for the Hershey Lacrosse Club and president of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse League. Since 1985, Mark has been associated with the Big 33 Football Classic as a board member, president and legal counsel. He is an age-group triathlete and belongs to the Legal Committee of the National Triathlon Federation. He was a finisher in the 1991 U.S. Marine Corps Marathon and the 1992 Esprit (Canada) Ironman Triathlon.
Mark is a life member and director of the Varsity Club. He belongs to the Society of Fellows and is an annual contributor to the Stickmen’s Fund, Roy D. Simmons Scholarship Fund and Campaign for Syracuse. Mark has supported the Colvin Park Project, Eggers Hall Project and Simmons Suite Fund. He served on the organizing committee for the Class of 1973 reunion. Mark and his wife, the former Linda C. Eng, SU Class of 1973, have two daughters: Margaret, 14 and Katherine, 11.
