The No. 10 Orange won three of the four races including the varsity eight against No. 7 Columbia and No. 11 Boston University ay in the waters of the Charles River in Boston, Mass. The win in the varsity eight gave the Orange the Conlan Cup for the fourth consecutive year. SU has won 13 of its last 14 cup contests dating back to the 2006 season. The Orange is also 24-2 in dual races since 2006.
The varsity eight crossed the finish line in 6:04.7. BU
The Syracuse varsity four also won its race, finishing with a time of 7:11.3.
The freshman eight was the third Orange crew to win its race, crossing the line in 6:28.6.
SU’s second varsity eight finished second with a time of 6:23.5.
The Orange must now prepare for the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 10 in Worcester, Mass.

Syracuse second in the varsity eight with a time of 6:07.0. The loss snapped Syracuse’s three-year undefeated cup race streak and marked SU’s first loss in a cup race since it lost the Packard Cup to Dartmouth on May 8, 2005.
SU earned its first victory of the day, finishing the junior varsity eight race in 6:11.0.
The Orange placed second in the third varsity eight with a time of 6:31.8.
SU finished second in the freshmen eight in 6:20.6.
Syracuse ended the day with a third-place finish in the second freshmen eight with a time of 6:52.5.
The Orange returns to the water on Saturday April 25 in Boston, Mass. SU will battle Boston and Columbia of the Conlan Cup.

The 13th-ranked Syracuse men's crew team won the Men's Collegiate Varsity International Petite today at the San Diego Crew Classic.The varsity eight boat boat of Ryan Patton (bow), Tyson Bry (2-seat), Brian Azeff (3-seat), Dan Turner (4-seat), Dan Berry (5-seat), Martin Etem (6-seat), Vince Berry (7-seat), Mike Gennaro (stroke) and Ken Marfilius (bow) finished with 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:08.00. The Orange was three seconds faster than No. 10 Yale and six seconds quicker than No. 15 Oregon State. Michigan and Purdue placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
SU is back on the water Saturday, April 18 when its hosts Navy and Cornell for the Goes Trophy.

The Orange men’s rowing team concluded its fall season on Saturday, November 22 at the Foot of the Charles. Syracuse entered a total of six boats in the varsity four and freshman eight races, and recorded a first and fifth-place finish in each competition.
The Orange’s varsity four “A” (Bow - Vince Berry, 2- Mike Gennaro, 3- Dan Berry, Stroke- Martin Etem, Coxswain-Kenny Marfilius) took first out of more than 40 boats in the varsity four race, crossing the finish line with a time of 12:59.2.
Syracuse’s varsity four “B” (Bow- Ryan Patton, 2- Clai White, 3- Brian Azeff, Stroke- Dan Turner, Coxswain- Jamie Hubbell) placed ninth with a time of 13:15.0. SU’s varsity four “C” (Bow- Tim Daigle, 2- Mike Bagnall, 3-Matt Hopek, Stroke- Marko Trnavcevic, Coxswain- Emily Leister) finished 20th in 13:37.8 and the Orange’s varsity four “D” (Bow- Pete Kruse, 2- Julian Morrison, 3- Ryan Planer, Stroke- Chip Keyes, Coxswain- Michael Armour)placed 22nd with a time of 13:40.8.
In the freshman eight race, Syracuse’s top boat finished fifth out of 19 total entries. The Orange’s freshman eight “A” (Bow- Aidan Barrett, 2-Dom Grifo, 3- James Olson, 4- Derek Rubin, 5- Kynan Reelick, 6- Chris Lutz, 7- Joe Gartland, Stroke- Steve Connors, Coxswain- Isaac Budmen) checked in with a time of 12:47.6.
Syracuse’s freshman eight “B” (Bow- Kevin Courtney, 2- Ben Allegrezza, 3- Jim Behr, 4- Pat Warden, 5- Mike Dietrick, 6- Chris Bickford, 7- Jon Sutton, Stroke- Nigel Gross, Coxswain- Jenna DeMarco) placed 13th, crossing the finish line at 14:06.9.

The Syracuse University men’s crew team recorded two first place finishes today at the annual Syracuse Invitational on Onondaga Lake. The varsity four (Bow-Vince Berry, 2-Mike Gennaro, 3-Dan Berry, Stroke-Martin Etem, Coxswain- Kenny Marfilius) won the “A” flight in 16:48.8, 21 second faster than the second-place finisher, Cornell. The freshman eight (Bow-James Olson, 2-Dominic Grifo, 3-Aidan Barrett, 4-Derrick Rubin, 5-Joe Gartland, 6-Chris Lutz, 7-Kynan Reelick, Stroke-Elliott Anderson, Coxswain-Isaac Budmen) won its race with a time of 16:04.0, 38 second faster than second-place finisher, Cornell.
SU’s second varsity four (Bow-Mike Bagnall, 2-Clai White, 3-Brian Azeff, Stroke-Dan Turner, Coxswain- Jamie Hubbell) placed fourth in the ”A” flight in 17:12.6 and the third varsity four (Bow-Ryan Planer, 2-Matt Hopeck, 3-Ryan Patton, Stroke-Chip Keyes, Coxswain-Emily Leister) finished 11th (17:56.7).
The Orange also had a good showing in the varsity four “B” flight with SU’s fourth varsity four (Bow-Mark Vyzas, 2-Tim Daigle, 3-Pete Kruse, Stroke-Julian Morrison, Coxswain-Emily Leister) taking second with a time of 17:48.5. Syracuse’s E boat (Bow-Matt Sisk, 2- Kyle Daugherty, 3-Peter Themistocles, Stroke-Kevin Beargie, Coxswain-Jamie Hubbell) placed fifth in 18:11.8 and SU’s F boat (Bow-Gerald McNeil, 2-Arnes Hadzic, 3-Ryan Planer, Stroke-Chip Keyes, Coxswain-Kenny Marfilius) finished 12th (18:41.9).
Syracuse’s second freshman eight (Bow-Mike Dietrick, 2-Ben Allegrezza, 3-Jim Behr, 4-Kevin Courtney, 5-Steve Connors, 6-Chris Bickford, 7-Jon Sutton, Stroke-Nigel Gross, Coxswain-Jenna DeMarco) round out the results for the men with a seventh-place finish (17:07.8).

The Syracuse men’s rowing squad returned to the water at the Princeton Chase. The Orange entered six boats; four in the men’s varsity open four and two in the men’s varsity open eight. The varsity eight boat (Bow-Brian Azeff, 2-Clai White, 3-Mike Bagnall, 4-Dan Turner, 5-Vince Berry, 6-Mike Gennaro, 7-Dan Berry, Stroke-Martin Etem, Coxswain- Jamie Hubbell) placed fifth with a time of 13:27.083.
The second varsity eight boat (Bow-Matt Sisk, 2-Kevin Beargie, 3-Peter Themistocles, 4-Julian Morrison, 5-Ryan Patton, 6-Matt Hopeck, 7-Ryan Planer, Stroke-Chip Keyes, Coxswain-Kenny Marfilius) finished 26th with a time of 14:12.143.
The men’s varsity four boat (Bow- Vince Berry, 2-Dan Turner, 3-Dan Berry, Stroke-Mike Gennaro, Coxswain- Kenny Marfilius) placed third with a time of15:07.549.
SU’s second varsity four (Bow- Brian Azeff, 2-Clai White, 3-Mike Bagnall, Stroke-Martin Etem, Coxswain- Jamie Hubbell) finished sixth in 15:26.617. The Orange third varsity four (Bow- Ryan Patton, 2-Matt Hopeck, 3- Ryan Planer, Stroke- Chip Keyes, Coxswain-Emily Leister) placed 33rd in 16:37.981 and the fourth varsity four (Bow- Matt Sisk, 2-Julian Morrison, 3-Peter Themistocles, Stroke-Kevin Beargie, Coxswain-Isaac Budmen) rounded out the Orange boats in 39th place with a time of 16:54.109.
