The Orange finished second at the BIG EAST Championship with 97 points at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J. The novice eight showed it was the class of the BIG EAST by winning the Grand Final in 7:01.713.
Syracuse placed fourth in the varsity eight, crossing the line in 6:43.507.
SU finished second in the varsity four with a time of 7:40.637.
The Orange also placed second in the second varsity four, crossing the finish line in 7:58.503.
Syracuse came across the line third in the second varsity eight at 6:50.254.
SU finished third in the novice four with a time of 8:46.667. The race was non-scoring.
The Orange must now prepare for the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 17 in Camden, N.J.

Syracuse finished third in the varsity eight, crossing the finish line in 7:09.5.
The second varsity eight had the same result. Harvard won the race with a time of 7:07.1. Dartmouth placed second with a time of 7:11.1 and Syracuse placed third with a time of 7:16.9.
Syracuse placed second in the novice four with a time of 9:07.5.
SU also took home the freshmen eight, crossing the line in 7:26.9.
The Orange finished the day with a second-place finish in the second varsity four with a time of 8:29.7.
Syracuse returns to the water on Sunday, April 26 at the BIG EAST Championship in Camden, N.J.

The varsity eight captured the Orange Cup for only the sixth time in the 30 year history of the cup and the first time since 2005 with its three-second victory against Northeastern and Pennsylvania. SU finished the 2,000-meter course in 7:03.8. Northeastern was second at 7:06.3 and Pennsylvania was third at 7:08.1. Syracuse also took first in three other races.
The Orange placed second in the second varsity eight with a time of 7:22.6.
The varsity four finished third with a time of 8:33.9.
Syracuse took first in the novice eight race, finishing in 7:38.2.
The second varsity four placed first with a time of 8:40.8.
The Orange won the novice four, finishing the last race of the day in 8:37.2.
Syracuse remains at home when it hosts Radcliff and Dartmouth next week at the Ten Eyck Boathouse located at Onondaga Lake Outlet in Longbranch Park. The men’s crew will also be racing as the Orange play tribute to Anna Goodale ’05, Olympic Gold Medalist, on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m.

The Syracuse Orange women’s rowing team placed second in three races and improved on all of its times from a week ago on Friday evening. The top-ranked Yale Bulldogs retained the Cayuga Cup for the sixth consecutive year by winning all five of the races in which it competed, including the varsity eight. Cornell won one race and finished second in two others.
The Orange finished third in the second varsity four heat with a time of 7:56.7.
SU had a strong showing the varsity four, placing second in 7:42.07.
Syracuse finished third in the novice eight race with a time of 7:04.37.
The Orange outlasted Cornell to place second in the varsity eight heat at 6:44.8.
SU placed third in the second varsity eight in 6:57.76.
Syracuse finished second in the novice four race with a time of 8:00.35.
The Orange remains home and will host Pennsylvania and Northeastern for the Orange Cup next Saturday, April 11.

The Orange opened its spring season by winning four of six races against Boston University on Saturday, March 28 at the DeWolfe Boathouse in Cambridge, Mass. The Orange won the novice four, second varsity four, the second varsity eight and the novice eight races. The Terriers retained the Kittell Cup by winning the varsity eight race. BU also won the varsity four race.
Syracuse began the day with a win in the novice four and second varsity four. The Orange posted a time of 8:15.0 and 8:25.8, respectively. The Terriers finished the novice four in 9:17.0 and the second varsity four in 8:32.1.
Boston won the next race, defeating SU in the varsity eight, 6:51.7 to 6:56.2.
Syracuse took home the second varsity eight heat with a time of 7:07.2. BU finished in 7:14.7.
The Terriers finished the varsity four race in 7:57.2. The Orange came in at 8:06.6.
SU won the last race of the day, finishing the novice eight with a time of 7:14.5. BU posted a time of 7:31.9.
Syracuse returns to the action next weekend, when the Orange hosts Cornell and Yale for the Cayuga Cup at the James A. Ten Eyck Boathouse located at Onondaga Lake Outlet in Longbranch Park.

The Orange women’s rowing team concluded its fall season on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Foot of the Charles. Syracuse entered a total of seven boats in the varsity four, novice eight and third varsity eight races, and recorded a top-five finish in each competition.
The Orange’s varsity four “A” (Bow-Katie Lynch, 2-Natalie Mastracci, 3-Kaitlin Grant, Stroke-Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Kate Todd) took fifth out of more than 50 boats in the varsity four race, crossing the finish line with a time of 14:31.9.
Syracuse’s varsity four “B” (Bow-Susan Groff, 2-Rachel Ogundarin, 3-Heidi Bulk, Stroke-Sydney Axson, Coxswain-Lydia Wong) was 15th with a time of 15:06.5. The varsity four “D” (Bow-Christine DePompeo, 2-Sarah Stapp, 3-Julia Ruskin, Stroke-Jacque Lee, Coxswain-Emily White) was 23rd (15:20.9) and the varsity four “C” (Bow-Anne van Houten, 2-Mary-Ellen Anderson, 3-Allison Erkhe, Stroke-Jess Tacinelli, Coxswain-Mikela Almeida) finished 24th (15:21.7).
The Orange’s novice eight “A” (Bow-Keriann Miller, 2-Natalie McCrudden, 3-Carmen Failla, 4-Tiffany Macon, 5-Naomi Carlson, 6-Tija Bross, 7-Annie Couwenhoven, Stroke-Mary Carlson, Coxswain-Allison Todd) checked in with a time of 14:05.0.
Syracuse’s novice eight “B” (Bow-Megan Garvey, 2-Anna Stolzenburg, 3-Erica Lichthardt, 4-Erika Merola, 5-Haley Sorensen, 6-Emma Karpowicz, 7-Calli Giannopoulus, Stroke-Elizabeth McGehee, Coxswain-Kaitlyn Yannie) placed 13th, crossing the finish line at 14:58.9.
In the third varsity-eight race, the Syracuse entry (Bow-Jessica Arevalo, 2-Ali Sayer, 3-Kelsey Wiemer, 4-Brandis Arcadia, 5-Ashley Tabor, 6-Brittany Jock, 7-Mandy DeHaven, Stroke-Alex Pines, Coxswain-Catherine Wilcox) finished third.
With its fall season completed, Syracuse will begin winter training sessions indoors, as well as make two trips to Florida, in preparation for its spring debut on March 28 against Boston University.

The Syracuse University women’s rowing team recorded two first place finishes today at the annual Syracuse Invitational on Onondaga Lake. The varsity eight (Bow-Katie Lynch, 2-Susan Groff, 3-Sydney Axson, 4-Heidi Bulk, 5-Rachel Ogundarin, 6-Natalie Mastracci, 7-Kaitlin Grant, Stroke-Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Kate Todd) won its race with a time of 17:54.9, 35 seconds faster than second-place Buffalo. The novice eight (Bow-Keriann Miller, 2-Tiffany Macon, 3-Carmen Failla, 4-Elizabeth McGehee, 5-Naomi Carlson, 6-Tija Bross, 7-Annie Couwenhoven, Stroke-Mary Carlson, Coxswain-Allison Todd) also won its race in 18:23.2, 1:07 faster than second-place finisher, Cornell.
SU’s varsity eight “B” boat (Bow-Christine DePompeo, 2-Anne van Houten, 3-Ashley Tabor, 4-Sarah Stapp, 5-Julia Ruskin, 6-Jacque Lee, 7-Jess Tacinelli, Stroke-Allison Erkhe, Coxswin-Lydia Wong) placed third in 18:41.4 and SU’s “C” boat (Bow-Kelsey Wiemer, 2-Ali Sayer, 3-Lauren Silverstein, 4-Brittany Jock, 5-Mandy DeHaven, 6-Brandis Arcadia, 7-Mary-Ellen Anderson, Stroke -Alex Pines, Coxswain-Mikela Almeida) finished 12th (20:26.7).
Syracuse’s novice eight “B” boat (Bow-Liz Watson, 2-Zoe Silverman, 3-Erica Merola, 4-Haley Sorensen, 5-Anna Stolzenburg, 6-Calli Giannopoulos, 7-Natalie McCrudden, Stroke-Megan Garvey, Coxswain-Alyssa Dupre) placed third (19:37.0).
The Orange also had a good showing the fours with SU’s “A” boat (Bow-Rachel Ogundarin, 2-Natalie Mastracci, 3-Allison Erkhe, Stroke-Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Kate Todd) finishing third in 19:45.3. Syracuse’s “B” boat (Bow-Katie Lynch, 2-Jess Tacinelli, 3-Sydney Axson, Stroke-Heidi Bulk, Coxswain-Lydia Wong) placed fourth (19:47.9) and SU’s “C” boat (Bow-Christine DePompeo, 2-Sarah Stapp, 3-Susan Groff, Stroke-Kaitlin Grant, Coxswain-Emily White) was fifth (20:01.2).
SU placed third, sixth, ninth and 15th in the varsity four “B” flight. SU’s “D” boat (Bow-Mary-Ellen Anderson, 2-Anne van Houten, 3-Julia Ruskin, Stroke-Jacque Lee, Coxswain-Mikela Almeida) was third (20:28.6). The “E” boat (Bow-Mandy DeHaven, 2-Brittany Jock, 3-Brandis Arcadia, Stroke-Ashley Tabor, Coxswain-Catherine Wilcox) was sixth (21:00.4). The Orange “F” boat (Bow-Jessica Arevalo, 2-Ali Sayer, 3- Kelsey Wiemer, Stroke-Alex Pines, Coxswain-Emily White) placed ninth (21:35.1) and SU’s “G” novice boat (Bow-Laura Stewart, 2-Katie Lapi, 3- Erica Lichthardt, Stroke-Caitlin Cronin, Coxswain-Kaitlin Yannie) was 15th (21:35.1).

The women’s rowing squad returned to the water at the Princeton Chase. The Orange entered six boats; four in the women’s varsity open four and two in the women’s varsity open eight. The varsity eight A boat (Bow- Katie Lynch, 2-Jess Tacinelli, 3-Sydney Axson, 4-Heidi Bulk, 5-Rachael Ogundiran, 6-Natalie Mastracci, 7-Kaitlin Grant, Stroke-Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Kate Todd) placed eighth with a time of 15:36.335.
The SU varsity eight b boat (Bow-Christine DePompeo, 2-Anne van Houten, 3-Mary-Ellen Anderson, 4-Sarah Stapp, 5-Susan Groff, 6-Allison Ehrke, 7-Julia Ruskin, Stroke-Jacque Lee, Coxswain-Lydia Wong) finished 27th with a time of 16:35.783.
The varsity four A boat (Bow- Katie Lynch, 2-Natalie Mastracci, 3- Sydney Axson, Stroke- Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Lydia Wong) placed ninth in 17:48.189 and SU’s varsity four B boat (Bow- Sarah Stapp, 2-Susan Groff, 3-Rachael Ogundiran, Stroke- Heidi Bulk, Coxswain-Kate Todd) finished 11th in 17:53.999.
The Orange varsity four C boat (Bow- Julia Ruskin, 2-Allison Ehrke, 3-Jess Tacinelli, Stroke- Kaitlin Grant, Coxswain-Emily White) placed 17th with a time of 18:15.659 and the varsity four D boat (Bow- Christine DePompeo, 2- Anne van Houten, 3- Mary-Ellen Anderson, Stroke- Jacque Lee, Coxswain-Mikela Almeida) placed 22nd with a time of 18:27.881.

The women’s rowing team opened its fall season with a first -place finish at the Head of the Genesee Regatta held at the Genesee Waterways Center in Rochester, N.Y. The varsity eight boat (Bow- Katie Lynch, 2-Susan Groff, 3-Sydney Axson, 4-Heidi Bulk, 5-Rachael Ogundiran, 6-Natalie Mastracci, 7-Kaitlin Grant, Stroke-Liz Henwood, Coxswain-Kate Todd) finished with a total time of 3238.23, six seconds faster than second-player finisher, Western Ontario. It was the first time in 17 years the Orange have one the head of the Genesee.
Syracuse’s B boat (Bow-Mandy DeHaven, 2-Brandis Arcadia, 3-Mary-Ellen Anderson, 4-Maura Helmer, 5-Ashley Tabor, 6-Allison Ehrke, 7-Julia Ruskin, Stroke-Jacque Lee, Coxswain-Emily White) finished sixth behind four A boats and only one other B boat.
The Orange A boat (Bow-Anne van Houten, 2-Christine DePompeo, 3-Sarah Stapp, Stroke-Jess Tacinelli, Coxswain-Lydia Wong) placed third in the varsity fours at 37:45.96.
Syracuse’s B boat (Bow-Kelsey Wiemer, 2-Lauren Silverstein, 3-Brittany Jock, Stroke-Alexandra Pines, Coxswain-Catherine Wilcox) played fourth at 40:09.14.
