Erica Morrow on what it says about SU to come back the way they did:
“Coaches, they prepared us, they prepared us the best that I know in the country. I think at that point in time it was just us, the players on the court who had to come out and execute it. We just have to pick it up a little bit. We started off slow but I think that made us stronger as a team.”
Erica Morrow on what Coach Q said was the halftime challenge:
“He just stepped back and said that it was in our hands. He said ‘are we going to come together and fight for the names on our jersey and fight for each other or are we going to crumble?’ I think because we respect Coach so much and we want to please him in every aspect of the game - he works so hard for us - I feel like we just wanted to come together for Syracuse and our fans and for coach because they do an excellent job preparing us.”
Troya Berry on her first home game:
“I felt comfortable because I was with my teammates. They made me feel like I was at home, and I performed pretty well.”
Erica Morrow on their upcoming trip to Alaska:
“It’s going to be cold. I rather be in the Bahamas, but in Alaska, there is a great tournament and it is going to be a great opportunity for us to go somewhere as a team, be together and see some nice stuff. And see some polar bears, too.”
What was everyone was thinking when Chandrea Jones was making those crucial free throws:
Jones: “I was just thinking I have to make at least one to get us into the game, but really I was just shooting.”
Morrow: “I was on the line out there and I was just thinking I hope Chaniepoo (Chandrea) makes this, but if she doesn’t, we have to crash the boards hard and try to get those offensive rebounds. That is a tribute to us going hard off the ball and her just happening to travel.”
Berry: “I knew Chandrea could do it. I have faith in her. I was just back there for defense.”
Erica Morrow on if PSU started off very strong of if SU came out flat:
“I think it was a little bit of both. We did come out a little flat, our first home game a little anxious, coming off of a long road schedule, but Portland was a great team like Coach said. He wants us to have a tough non-conference schedule so he brought PSU in. They are a great team and they have shooters and drivers. They we’re a real good combination team.”
