ORANGE ADVANCES TO NCAA QUARTERFINALS
Junior attack Katie Rowan set NCAA Championship and school single-game records with eight assists and 13 points to lead the fifth-seeded Orange to a 21-9 victory against Towson in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Sunday in the Carrier Dome. The game marked the first time in the program’s history that Syracuse hosted a first-round NCAA Championship game. For the second straight year, Syracuse advances to the tournament quarterfinals where it will face North Carolina on Saturday, May 17 at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
The first eight minutes of the game featured back-and-forth action as both teams found the back of the net twice. Dove gave the Orange the early lead with a goal 3:03 into the contest. Towson responded on Jacie Kendall’s goal with 24:10 remaining before Awehiyo Thomas scored off Rowan’s first assist of the game to give SU the lead with 23:21 left on the clock. The Tigers again answered 69 seconds later when Nikki Marcinik found the back of the net on an assist from Kendall to tie the score. It remained that way until Dove fed Rowan for her first goal of the day with 18:22 on the clock. That goal ignited an 7-0 scoring run for SU that gave the Orange a 9-2 lead with 9:11 remaining. After a pair of Towson goals, Rowan converted two straight free-position opportunities as Syracuse built a 13-5 halftime lead.
The Orange offensive continued to produce in the second half as Thomas, Dove and Halley Quillinan recorded goals in the first eight minutes. After Towson tallied twice, the Orange responded with four straight of its own on its way to recording the 12-goal victory.
ROWAN NAMED TEWAARATON TROPHY FINALIST
Junior Katie Rowan is putting together the most prolific scoring campaign in the history of the program. For her efforts, Rowan is one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Trophy, which is presented to the nation’s top lacrosse player. SU men’s player Mike Leveille is also a finalist, making Syracuse the only school in the nation with a female and male on the final ballot.
Rowan is rewriting the Syracuse record book. This season she has become Syracuse’s career leader in points (278 pts.), goals (176) and assists (102).

SYRACUSE REPEATS AS BIG EAST TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
The Orange scored eight straight goals in the second half to defeat Georgetown, 12-6, in the final game of the BIG EAST Championship played in Notre Dame, Ind. on Sunday, April 27. Syracuse wins its second-straight tournament title and earns the BIG EAST’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Junior Katie Rowan earned the championship’s Most Valuable Player award after setting a tournament record with 13 points in two games.
Rowan was one of five members of the Orange named to the All-Tournament team. She was joined by seniors Kristin Brady and Christina Gibson, sophomore Christina Dove and freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan.
Syracuse defeated Rutgers in the semifinals on Friday. Dove scored a career-high seven goals and Rowan recorded 10 points to lead the Orange to a 22-7 victory to secure its place in the final game.
ROWAN AND ROGERS EARN BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS
Junior Katie Rowan was named the BIG EAST Conference Attack Player of the Year and sophomore Lindsay Rogers received the Defensive Player of the Year award at the annual BIG EAST Conference Awards Banquet held on Thursday, April 24 in South Bend, Ind. It marks the first time in the program’s history that it has had two Players of the Year in the same season.
Rowan and Rogers were two of a school-record five members of the Orange named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, the most for any school in the conference. Joining the pair were sophomores Christina Dove and Halley Quillinan and freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan. Rowan, Dove and Quillinan were unanimous selections. In addition, seniors Kristin Brady and Christina Gibson were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
SYRACUSE REACHES NEW HEIGHTS
Syracuse climbed to No. 3 in the April 21 Inside Lacrosse poll, marking the highest ranking in the
history of the program. The Orange was ranked No. 4 in last week’s poll, equaling its highest
ranking it achieved earlier this season. Syracuse reached No. 4 in both the IWLCA and Inside
Lacrosse polls for the week of Feb. 25 and has been ranked in the top 10 in both polls every week
this season.
ORANGE CONTINUES RECORD-SETTING WAYS
With its win at Cornell, Syracuse broke the school record for most wins a season. The Orange has
16 wins this season, bettering the school mark it set in 2007 when it won 13 games. This season
Syracuse reached double fi gures in wins faster than any other season in the program’s history,
recording its 10th win of the year in its 12th contest. The Orange has won 10 or more games
eight times in the program’s 11 seasons, including a stretch of fi ve-straight years from 1999-2003.
The Orange broke the school record for most goals in a season at Cornell. Syracuse has found the
back of the net 338 times this season. The previous record was 288 set last season.

ORANGE CLAIM BIG EAST REGULAR-SEASON TITLE, EARNS NO. 1 SEED IN BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
Syracuse clinched its first outright BIG EAST regular-season title with its win at Loyola on Saturday. The Orange went undefeated in conference play for the first time in school history with a 5-0 record. It is the second-straight regular-season crown for the Syracuse, which shared the title with Georgetown in 2007.
The Orange earned the No. 1 seed for the BIG EAST Championship and will take on No. 4 seed Rutgers in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. EST in Notre Dame, Ind. No. 2 seed Notre Dame faces No. 3 seed Georgetown in the second semifinal. The championship game is set for noon on Sunday. The tournament champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Division I Championship.
ROWAN BECOMES SYRACUSE'S ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER
Junior Katie Rowan became Syracuse's all-time leading scorer in the Orange's victory against Colgate. Rowan sits atop the career scoring list with 246 points in her career. She is poised to become the all-time leader in assists as she is tied for the top spot with Kim Wayne with 85 helpers in her career.
With seven points against Loyola, Rowan became the first player in school history to surpass 100 points in a season. Rowan has 56 goals and 48 assists this season for 104 points.
DOVE REACHES MILESTONE
Sophomore Christina Dove had a hat trick against Loyola, helping the Orange to a 19-8 victory. Her third goal of the game gave her 100 in her career. She is just the seventh player in the program's history to score 100 career goals. Dove has 53 goals this season which ranks third on Syracuse's single-season record list.
QUILLINAN AND ROGERS EARN BIG EAST HONORS
Sophomore Halley Quillinan was named the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Orange’s win against Rutgers. It’s Quillinan’s first career Player of the Week award. In addition, sophomore Lindsay Rogers earned a spot on the weekly honor roll.
Quillinan scored a game-high four goals and had an assist in Syracuse’s win against Rutgers. She tied her career high with five draw controls, giving her a team-high 31 this season. She also picked up a ground ball and caused two turnovers.
Rogers recorded a career-high five ground balls and had one draw control against the Scarlet Knights. Rogers and the Orange defense held Rutgers scoreless for a stretch of 16:58 in the first half and 24:06 in the second half and caused 20 Scarlet Knight turnovers.
BRADY SAVES THE BEST FOR LAST
Senior Kristin Brady is having her most productive season of her career in 2008. She has already posted career high in goals (31), assists (12) and points (43) and has tied her career high with eight caused turnovers. Brady scored her 100th career point in the Orange's win against Colgate and ranks 10th on the all-time goals scored list with 75 in her career.

ROWAN SETS SINGLE-SEASON SCORING RECORD
Junior Katie Rowan scored seven points in Syracuse’s win at Rutgers, giving her 87 on the season. That total breaks the school single-season scoring record she set last season when she recorded 86 points in 19 games. In the latest NCAA statistics released on April 8, Rowan ranked first in the nation in points and points per game.
ORANGE LEAD THE NATION IN SCORING
For the second week in a row, Syracuse and junior Katie Rowan top the national rankings in scoring and scoring average, according to the NCAA statistics released Tuesday, Apr. 7. The prolific Orange offense has tallied 318 points, for an average of 18.51 points per game. Rowan is the nation’s leader in points with 80 on the season, 17 points ahead of the next-highest scorer. Rowan also leads the nation in points per game (6.67).
The Orange is among the nation’s top 10 in five other categories. Syracuse ranks second in scoring margin, averaging 10.5 more goals that its opponents, sixth in winning percentage (.833), sixth in draw controls (15.33 per game), seventh in scoring defense (8.1 goals allowed per game), and ninth in caused turnovers (10.92 per game).
In addition to leading the nation in scoring, Rowan is second in assists (37) and third in assists per game (3.08). Three Syracuse players place among the nation’s top 20 in goals scored, with Rowan and sophomore Christina Dove tied for 14th with 3.58 goals per game. Sophomore Halley Quillinan is averaging 3.36 goals per game, good for 17th place. Freshman Liz Hogan moves up to seventh this week in goals-against average (7.91). She remains the only freshman goalkeeper in the nation’s top 30 in that category.
ROWAN AND HOGAN HONORED AS BIG EAST PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
After leading the fifth-ranked Syracuse women’s lacrosse squad to two wins last week, including an 18-3 victory against No. 6 Georgetown, junior Katie Rowan and freshman Liz Hogan have earned the BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively. It is the second Player of the Week award for each this season and marks the first time that a school has swept the weekly awards.
Rowan enjoyed a record-breaking performance in the win against the Hoyas, scoring four goals and dishing out seven assists. She broke the single-game school record with 11 points and tied the league mark for most points in a conference game. Her seven assists also tied the SU and BIG EAST single-game mark and gives her 37 on the year, which is also a single-season school record. In addition, she had eight points on four goals and four assists in the Orange’s victory at Albany. Rowan leads the team in scoring with 80 points and ranks first in the BIG EAST in points per game (6.67). In the most recent NCAA statistics released on April 1, Rowan led the nation in scoring and scoring average.
Hogan reached double figures in saves in Syracuse’s two wins last week. Against Albany, she made a career-high 14 saves and picked up four ground balls. In the Orange’s win against Georgetown, Hogan stopped 13 shots, including 11 in the first half as Syracuse built a 10-1 halftime lead. She also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Hogan ranks first in the BIG EAST with a 7.91 goals against average.

ROWAN REWRITES THE RECORD BOOK
Junior Katie Rowan enjoyed a record-setting performance in Syracuse’s win against Georgetown. She set the single-game school record with 11 points on four goals and seven assists. The seven assists ties SU’s single-game mark and give her 37 this season, which is a single-season school record. Rowan leads the Orange in scoring with 43 goals and 37 assists for 80 points.
HOGAN STRONG IN GOAL
Freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan reached double figures in saves in SU’s two victories last week. Hogan made a career-high 14 saves against Albany. She followed that performance with 13 saves while allowing just three goals against Georgetown. Hogan has started all 12 games for the Orange this season and has a 7.91 goals against average.

The Orange recorded its 10th win of the season on Saturday against Georgetown. It marks the seventh time in the program’s 11-year history that SU has recorded at least 10 wins in a season. The 2008 squad reached double figures in wins quicker than any other team in school history, achieving the feat in just 12 games.
ORANGE OFFENSE AND ROWAN LEAD THE NATION IN SCORING
Syracuse and junior Katie Rowan sit atop the national rankings for scoring and scoring average, according to the NCAA statistics released on Tuesday, Apr. 1. The Orange features the highest scoring offense in the country with 256 points and an 18.32 goals per game average. Rowan is the national leader in points, with 61, and points per game, with a 6.1 per game average.
The Orange ranks in the top 10 in four other categories as well. Syracuse is second in scoring margin (10.1) and third in draw controls (15.8 per game). The Orange is eighth in caused turnovers (11.3 per game) and ninth in winning percentage (.800). In addition, Syracuse is 11th in scoring defense, allowing 8.32 goals per game.
Rowan ranks third in the nation in assists (26) and assists per game (2.6). Sophomore Christina Dove is 15th in goals per game (3.6), while Rowan is 16th (3.5). Freshman Liz Hogan ranks 10th in goals against average, allowing 8.09 per game. She has the lowest goals against average of
any freshman in the country.

DOVE EARNS BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Sophomore Christina Dove earned the women’s lacrosse BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week award for her performance in the Orange’s victories against Towson and Connecticut. It’s Dove’s first career conference Player of the Week award. Dove scored a career-best six goals in Syracuse’s 22-5 win against Towson. She followed that performance with a career-high seven points on fi ve goals and two assists in the Orange’s 24-4 victory against Connecticut. Dove also had three draw controls and one ground ball against the Huskies. In the
two games, Dove amassed 13 points on 11 goals and two assists. She leads the Orange with 33 goals this season and ranks second on the team in points with 41. Dove currently ranks 10th on Syracuse’s all-time scoring list with 103 points and is eighth on the career goals scored list with 83.
GIBSON EARNS BIG EAST ACCOLADES
For the second time this season, senior Christina Gibson was named to the BIG EAST Conference’s weekly honor roll for her contributions in Syracuse’s wins against Towson and Connecticut. She tied career highs with four ground balls and three caused turnovers against Towson. Against UConn, she helped limit the Huskies to just three shots on goal and one goal in the second half. Gibson also earned the honor after SU’s wins against Binghamton and Hofstra. Gibson leads the team in caused turnovers with 15.
ROWAN REACHES MILESTONE
With nine points against Cincinnati, junior Katie Rowan became the second player in the program's history to register 200 career points. She joins Leigh-Ann Zimmer (2001-04) in the exclusive club. Rowan now has 203 points in her career. She is second on SU's all-time scoring list, 30 points behind Zimmer. With three assists against the Bearcats, Rowan also climbed to second place on the career assists list with 63. Kim Wayne ranks first on the all-time list with 85 (2000-03).

BRUSHE NAMED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Shannon Brushe has earned the BIG EAST Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance in the Orange’s win against Notre Dame. Brushe and the Orange defense held No. 12/16 scoreless in overtime to preserve a 16-13 win. Syracuse held the nation’s leading scorer, Irish junior Jillian Byers to just three points on two goals and an assist. Brushe also had a draw control and a caused turnover as the Orange won its league opener for the first time in school history.
ORANGE OFFENSE ROLLS
Syracuse defeated Connecticut, 24-4, tying the single-game school record for most goals that it set in its season opener against Canisius. The Orange has scored 20 or more goals five times this season, including four of its last five games. Syracuse's win against Connecticut also marked the second time this season the Orange has won a game by 20 or more goals.
ROWAN ACCOMPLISHES RARE FEAT
With four assists against Connecticut, junior Katie Rowan became just the second player in school history to score 100 goals and dish out 60 assists. She joins Leigh-Ann Zimmer in the exclusive club. Zimmer scored 171 goals and recorded 62 assists from 2001-04.
Rowan took one step closer to becoming the most prolific scorer in the history of the Syracuse program in the Orange’s victory against Towson. She recorded six points on four goals and two assists against the Tigers. With that performance Rowan climbed to second place on Syracuse all-time scoring list and the career goals scored list. She now has 134 goals and and 194 points in her career. Rowan needs just six points to join Zimmer as the only players to score 200 points in their careers.
DOVE FLYING UP THE CHARTS
Sophomore Christina Dove is Syracuse's leading goal scorer this season with 32. She tallied a career-best six goals in Syracuse's win against Towson. She followed that performance with a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists against Connecticut. Dove has moved into the top 10 on Syracuse's all-time scoring list. She ranks 10th on the list with 96 career points. On the career goals scored list, Dove is tied with teammate Halley Quillinan for eighth place with 79 career goals.
ROWAN LEADS THE NATION IN SCORING, ORANGE OFFENSE RANKS THIRD
Junior Katie Rowan is the most prolific scorer in the country so far this season, while the Orange offense ranks number two in the nation, according to the most recent NCAA women’s lacrosse statistics released on March 25. Through games of Sunday, March 23, Rowan ranks first nationally in points (52) and points per game (6.5). She leads Syracuse’s offense which is second in the nation in scoring (19.14 goals per game) and third in points (215).
Overall, Rowan ranks in the top five in four categories. She is third in assists (23) and fourth in assists per game (2.88). In addition, sophomore Christina Dove and freshman Liz Hogan rank among the national leaders. Dove’s average of 4.0 goals per contest is sixth in the nation, while Hogan’s 7.23 goals against average ranks sixth.
As a team, Syracuse ranks among the top 10 in six statistical categories. The Orange is second in scoring margin (11.75), third in points (215) and draw controls (16.38), fifth in winning percentage (.875) and eighth in scoring defense (7.53)

ROWAN NAMED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Katie Rowan earned the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week award for the week of March 3-9. She led the Orange to two victories, scoring 15 points in the two contests. Rowan scored a pair of goals and tied her career high with four assists in SU's 22-8 victory against Binghamton. She followed that performance with nine points on five goals and four assists in the Orange's 21-10 victory against Hofstra.
GIBSON HONORED BY THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
Senior Christina Gibson was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for her performance against Binghamton and Hofstra. Gibson anchored the Orange's defense, which allowed an average of nine goals in the two victories. She recorded three caused turnovers and two groundballs for the Orange. Gibson leads the team in caused turnovers with 10.
ROWAN RANKS SECOND IN THE NATION IN SCORING, ORANGE RANKS THIRD
Junior Katie Rowan ranks among the top five in the nation in four offensive categories, while the Orange ranks third in scoring offense, according to the initial NCAA women’s lacrosse statistics released on March 10.
Rowan is second in the country in points (33.0) and in points per game (6.6). She also ranks fourth in assists (15) and fifth in assists per game (3.0). In addition, freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan has achieved a top-10 national ranking. Through five games, Hogan has a 7.21 goals against average, which ranks 10th in the country.
As a team, Syracuse’s 134.0 points and 18.6 points per game rank third in the nation. The Orange’s average margin of victory of 10.8 is the third-highest among all Division I teams. In addition, Syracuse ranks 12th in scoring defense (7.8), 11th in draw controls (15.0) and 15th in caused turnovers (11.0).
ORANGE WINS BIG EAST OPENER
Syracuse defeated Notre Dame in overtime, 16-13, in its BIG EAST opener. It marks the first time in the program's history that the Orange has won its first conference regular-season game of the year. The win extends Syracuse's regular-season winning streak against league opponents to five.

ROWAN HONORED BY THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
For the second-straight week, junior Katie Rowan earned a spot on the BIG EAST's weekly honor roll. She led the Orange offense against No. 2 Virginia, recording three goals and an assist. Rowan scored 50 seconds into the contest to give Syracuse the early lead. After Virginia scored four straight to take a three-goal lead, Rowan capped off a 3-0 scoring run for the Orange with a goal at the 4:31 mark to tie the score at 4-4. Her final goal was the first of the second half and knotted the score at 5-5.
QUILLINAN NETS CAREER HIGH
Sophomore Halley Quillinan scored a career-high six goals in Syracuse's win against Binghamton. Previously, Quillinan had scored five goals in a game three times. She equaled that performance with six goals in SU's win against Hofstra. The six goals tie her for fifth on the school's single-game record list.
Quillinan has moved into the top 10 on Syracuse's career goals scored list. She ranks eighth with 69 career goals. Quillinan leads the team in goals scored this season with 19.
DOVE FLYING HIGH
With five goals against Hofstra, sophomore Christina Dove have moved into a tie for 10th place on Syracuse's career goals scored list. In 24 career games, Dove has recorded 65 goals. This season, she ranks third on the team in scoring with 22 points.

ORANGE REACHES NEW HEIGHTS
Syracuse climbed one spot in both the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse polls last week to No. 4 in the nation. It marks the highest ranking in the history of the program which began in 1998.
The Orange started the season ranked No. 5 in both polls. Syracuse moved up a spot following convincing wins against Canisius, 24-3, and No. 17/14 Dartmouth, 18-5. Three-time national champion Northwestern, Syracuse’s opponent at the Carrier Dome on March 24, remains the top-ranked team in both polls, followed by Virginia. The IWLCA poll has Duke at No. 3, while the Inside Lacrosse poll has Maryland in the third spot.
HOGAN NAMED BIG EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan was named the BIG EAST Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 18-24. Hogan made her first collegiate start in Syracuse’s season opener against Canisius and recorded four saves and allowed just two goals in 55 minutes of action in a 24-3 victory. Against No. 17/14 Dartmouth, Hogan tallied seven saves and again allowed just two goals in 55 minutes. In the two games, she posted a 2.15 goals against average and a .733 save percentage.
Against Virginia, Hogan recorded a career-high 11 saves. For the season, Hogan has a 5.95 goals against average and a .564 save percentage.
ROWAN EARNS BIG EAST HONOR
Junior Katie Rowan earned a spot on the BIG EAST’s weekly honor roll for the week of Feb. 18-24. Rowan recorded 14 points in the Orange’s two victories. Against Canisius, Rowan scored nine points on six goals and three assists. The nine points tie her for third on Syracuse’s single-game record list, while the six goals tie her for the fifth-highest single-game total in school history. Rowan had five points against Dartmouth on two goals and three assists and moved into third place on Syracuse’s all-time scoring list. In just 38 career games, Rowan has 160 points on 116 goals and 44 assists.

ORANGE OPEN SEASON IN RECORD-BREAKING FASHION
No. 5/5 Syracuse opened the 2008 campaign on a high note, defeating Canisius, 24-3, in its season opener on Wednesday in the Carrier Dome. It was a record-setting performance for the Orange as the 24 goals are the highest single-game total in school history. Syracuse had scored 23 goals three times, including two occasions during the 2007 season.
The 21-goal win is the largest margin of victory in school history. It marks the second time in the program’s history that the Orange has won a game by 20 or more goals. Syracuse defeated Connecticut, 20-0, in 1998, the program’s first season.
While the offense was clicking on all cylinders, the Orange defense was equally impressive. Syracuse’s pressure caused the Griffs to commit 24 turnovers which ties a single-game school record. Canisius recorded just 10 shots on goal compared to 50 for SU.
SYRACUSE SHUTS OUT NO. 17/14 DARTMOUTH IN FIRST HALF, CRUISES TO 18-5 VICTORY
The Orange scored 11 unanswered goals in the first half and went on to defeat #17/14 Dartmouth, 18-5. Sophomore Christina Dove and junior Awehiyo Thomas scored four goals each, while Katie Rowan notched five points to lead the Orange offense.
Syracuse dominated the first half as seven different Orange scored as SU led 11-0 at the half. It marked the first time Syracuse has shut out an opponent for an entire half since the 2006 season when SU accomplished the feat against Binghamton.
ROWAN KEEPS ROLLING
Junior Katie Rowan showed why the BIG EAST coaches voted her the league’s Offensive Preseason Player of the Year in Syracuse’s season opener. Rowan recorded one of the most prolific scoring performances in the program’s history with nine points on six goals and three assists. The nine points tie her for third on Syracuse’s single-game scoring list and marks just the fourth time in the history of the program that a player has recorded nine or more points in a single game. Rowan and Kim Wayne hold the single-game school mark of 10 points.
Rowan’s six goals tie her for fifth on Syracuse’s single-game goals scored list. Three players have recorded seven goals in a game four times, including Rowan’s seven-goal performance against Rutgers last season.
Against Darmouth, Rowan recorded five points to move into third place on Syracuse's all-time scoring list 156 points. She also ranks fourth on SU's all-time goals scored list and fifth on the career assists list.
