Syracuse Player Quotes
Syracuse v. Robert Morris
March 18, 2008
Syracuse, N.Y. – Carrier Dome
Donte Greene, Fr., F
On the recovering from the disappointment of the BIG EAST Tournament:
"That was my second loss in the Garden, but the way we played, that was the worst-played game ever for me. So we're ready to get back down to the Garden and win that championship, because we've got a lot of fans down there and they love to see us play down there. So, you know, we can get back down to the Garden. Me personally, I like to go shopping after.”
On the Colonials' late-game comeback:
"I wasn't worried about it. We had a couple turnovers. Pittsburgh, when they were coming back, we were so tight and were panicking so much. Here, we were still loose. Yeah, we made a couple mistakes, they hit a couple threes, but we weren't worried about it. We knew we were going to win that game, there was no losing that game for us."
On Robert Morris' rebounding abilities:
"Those little guys can jump. Our timing was a little bit off, especially with the ball coming off the rim. They were just coming in and trying to get a hand on it to keep it up there. It was kind of hurting us when we only had three guys on the boards and they were sending all five, even though they're so little, they're still jumping and getting up there with us. We did an OK job, but we could have done a lot better."
On playing without Jonny Flynn:
"There was a lot of penetrating and kicking the ball. We got it inside and when our guys got double-teamed, we got it out. Scoop [Jardine] did a good job running it tonight."
Kristof Ongenaet, Jr., F
On playing with only six guys:
"At least it's not going to be the only time we’re going to play without [Jonny]. We'll just have to play through it and not focus on that. We know it's going to be tough and it's going to be tougher without him, but there's nothing we can do it about it, just adapt and win games."
Scoop Jardine, Fr., F
On missing a breakaway lay-up near the end of the game:
"If I had listened to Coach, we wouldn't be talking about it right now. I didn't do what Coach told me to do all year, which was to use the backboard. I was trying to be a little fancy, and you could see the result."
On whether playing in the NIT effects the team's intensity level:
"Every game, we have to play every game. Everybody wants to come in here and beat Syracuse, so we're going to have to be on our best to play every game."
On playing more minutes with Jonny out:
"I've kind of been playing better the second half of the season, since I got back from suspension, so I kind of figured I'd be playing more, and I knew Jonny wasn't at his best, so I knew I'd be playing. I didn't think I was going to get in that fast, though."
Paul Harris, So., G
On the rebounding efforts of Robert Morris:
"They were some little short feisty guys, and they just kind of wanted it more, and that's kind of how I am against like Roy Hibbert, so they were kind of like that against us."
On whether he thinks Jonny will play Thursday:
"I think he will. Yeah, I can't see Jonny sitting out two games. But his back really has been hurting him a lot, but I think he'll be ready to go."
