Syracuse Student-Athlete Quotes
Katie Rowan, Jr., Attack
On her 13 points and what it means to do so in an NCAA game:
“I think our goal is to go all the way and play on the last day, so whatever it takes to get there.”
On being involved in several plays:
“I’m just trying to get open for my teammates and setting up the plays. I try to do it all the time.”
On hearing the North Carolina-Virginia score:
“I had heard that UNC had been winning, but I didn’t know the end score. After the game we heard and we’re really excited to host them Saturday.”
On hosting North Carolina next Saturday:
“We’re pretty comfortable playing in the Dome, we have a good record here. Were really excited to stick around Syracuse for another week and then have UNC come up here.”
On preparing for the game:
“The past few weeks we’ve been practicing shooting and moving the goalie. We shot really well today and we just need to keep working on our shooting.”
Kristin Brady, Sr., Attack
On the excitement of graduation and was it a factor at the start of the game:
“No, not at all. I think that we were focused and I think we played pretty well. Like Gary (Gait) said, we were off for two weeks and I don’t think that had anything to do with it.”
On what sparked the offense:
“I think getting into the flow and just having the ball, having it on offense a couple of times and then I think we definitely got into the flow. Again, it’s hard after not playing for two weeks, but we flipped the switch.”
On Lindsay Rogers’ run and the seven straight goals for Syracuse after:
“It was great to get up the field safely and I think Lindsay always gives our team energy. Whether it’s the draws she gets, caused turnovers, ground balls. It was definitely a factor.”
On how Towson came out in this game compared to the earlier season contest:
“No, I think that teams change. We played them early, and they were on a winning streak. I thought even when we played them the first time they were a very tough team, so we weren’t surprised at all.”
On Syracuse’s attack:
“I think it helps considering everyone on our attack can really score, that really opens people up and when your one-one-one with the goalie we should be able to put it in.”
On the effect of winning the game so convincingly:
“Come playoff time you win or you go home so it’s great to just play with our team for another week at least. It does get some nerves out, we got one out of the way and we’re definitely looking forward to trying to get to the Final Four on Saturday.”
On the 4-2 Syracuse lead as the team finally found its flow:
“Definitely. We just needed to get the lead and take control of what we know how to take control of and get relaxed.”
Lindsay Rogers, So., Midfielder
On a ground ball she ran the length of the field:
“Just trying to do everything, every little thing counts, as a team making every little effort to get the ball up the field. Sometimes it’s just run as fast as you can, keep your head up and look for open passes. If the space is open just keep going, if not, look for our trails. Our defense has been working on passing it back and across so I knew I had the help if I needed it.”
On goalkeeper Liz Hogan’s play:
“Liz is a really strong player and she gets all of us pumped up too. Making those big saves just gives everyone an extra push and the adrenaline goes up the field for our attack.”
