Sophomore #Carl Cutler# made his first career start Saturday at tight end, while senior linebacker Mike Stenclik made his first start of the season. Cutler had his first career touchdown reception on a one-yard pass from quarterback Greg Paulus .
#Greg Paulus# completed 13-of-16 passes against Rutgers. He has now completed 169 passes this season, which ranks third on the school’s single-season leader list.
Sophomore running back #Antwon Bailey# recorded a career-long 27-yard kickoff return. Bailey also had his first touchdown of the season on a 14-yard dash in the first quarter. Bailey had a career high with 181 all-purpose yards on 77 yards rushing, 47 yards receiving, and 57 on kick returns.
Senior running back #Delone Carter# rushed for 67 yards against Rutgers, moving him to 20th place on SU’s all-time record list for rushing yards with 1,769 in his career.
Junior free safety #Mike Holmes# set a career high with two interceptions and leads the team with three interceptions on the season. It marked the first time a Syracuse player has intercepted two passes in a game since Joe Fields had two against Miami (OH) in 2007.
Sophomore running back #Averin Collier# recorded the longest rush of his career on 60-yard touchdown run. Collier set a career high with 66 rushing yards on the day. He also recorded the longest reception of his career of nine yards.
Junior linebacker #Doug Hogue# set a single-game school record with 6.5 tackles for a loss. The previous record was five set by Dwight Freeney against Virginia Tech in 2000. Hogue also had 3.5 sacks. He has recorded 16.5 tackles for a loss this season, which rank sixth on Syracuse’s single-season record list.
Syracuse tied a single-game school record with nine sacks. The Orange had accomplished the feat on two previous occasions – against Virginia Tech in 2000 and against the Scarlet Knights in 1991.
Sophomore wide receiver #Marcus Sales# had three catches against Rutgers, extending his streak of consecutive games with a reception to eight.
Freshman wide receiver #Alec Lemon# recorded a career-long reception of 21 yards. He finished with three catches for 40 yards.
Freshman kicker #Ryan Lichtenstein#’s field goal in the second quarter was a career-long 44 yards.
Syracuse finished with 213 rushing yards, marking the fifth consecutive week the Orange has recorded more than 100 yards rushing.
