Nicole Michael, Senior, Forward
On her big block in the second half:
“It was just a good block. Our goal was to keep them below 40 points and I just didn’t want them to score. So when (Dartmouth’s Meghan McFee) put up the shot, I was just thinking, ‘No’ in my head and I just ran and blocked it.”
On her lackluster offense:
“I just we were rusty from not playing five-on-five in practice in practice, as Coach said. Usually we’re used to doing that and used to passing the ball. We had pretty much a week off, five to five, so coming back playing was kind of rusty.”
On the SU defense:
“We’re just determined and confident that we can get every stop if we work hard. Coach (Rick) Moody emphasizes a lot on playing in our stance, and we had a goal to not let them score more than 40 points so we had to play good defense for that to happen.”
On the team’s 9-0 record:
“It is very exciting, we’re just going to keep playing hard and keep winning and keep going.”

On if the turnover situation was addressed at halftime:
“(Coach Hillsman) just told us to pick it up on defense. There wasn’t much that he could really show us in the back. He basically just said just pick it up on defense. As a team, we know what he means. We believe in him, so we’re confident that if he just tells us to do something, we’re going to go out there and try to execute on it the best way we can.”
On Coach Hillsman’s quick trigger on lots of substitutions and her overall confidence:
“Playing against these girls, you have to be confident. I don’t think you can go out there and play against Slinky. In practice we go hard. Practice is really hard, so I guess that is boosting a little more confidence for me.”
On team confidence with defense:
“It’s been very important because our defense has picked up a whole lot and we execute a lot of things in practice on our defense. So it’s been very important. It’s been key factor in our basketball games.”
On team record thus far:
“It’s awesome. Everybody is excited, we’re ready. What more can you say? You see it on the court, we’re excited.”
