Syracuse vs. Georgetown
January 2, 2010
Carrier Dome – Syracuse, N.Y
Juanita Ward
On their game plan:
"I think we did everything that we possibly could. As a team we tried to execute as well as we could and I think that we did ok."
On breaking Georgetown's press:
"I don’t think that we were having a difficult time breaking the press. I think that we just needed to be a little more patient."
On the way Syracuse competed tonight:
"It is always good to give the fans what they want to see, but I think we competed the best that we could."
On the Georgetown rivalry:
"It was an awesome feeling out on the court. We just competed. Everyone was out there for the win so it was a battle. It was a really good feeling."
On what the team is going to do to move past this loss:
"We are going to come together as a team. That is what we do, that is what we are good at. We are going to work together and move towards the Seton Hall game."
On her energy on the court:
"I couldn’t do it all by myself. Everyone on the court played hard. Everyone contributed the best that they could which sparks energy on the court. We all pull together when we are out on the court and our energy level is a big factor."
On her performance:
"Every day I play I feel good. Every game that we play my whole team feels good. It is not just about me or one individual on the floor."
Nichole Michael
On fouling out:
"It was very frustrating. As coach said, I can not foul out of games. To have four fouls during most of the game was very frustrating for me and I just wanted to get back out there and play. Unfortunately, I couldn’t because I only had one more foul to give."
On which foul she thought was the worst:
"Any foul that I got were bad. I did not look at any fouls differently. I should not have had any fouls."
On who the play was for at the end of regulation time:
"The play was actually drawn for Erica (Morrow), but they were smart and they doubled her so I just threw it up there and thankfully I got fouled."
On playing under pressure:
"I love playing under pressure and as you can see my free-throw percentage is not good so to make three free throws in a row was big for me."
On moving forward in the BIG EAST:
"It is tough, but we have to put it behind us. We have a long BIG EAST season coming up, and every team that we play against is going to be tough so we just have to move on."
Kayla Alexander
On her impression of her first BIG EAST game:
"It is very physical and intense. Everyone can play so it was a big eye opener and I am going to keep learning."
On her first BIG EAST game:
"I don’t think that my first game was terrible, but there is still a lot that I need to work on."
On her thoughts on BIG EAST play:
"It is very physical. People can tell you that it is going to be physical, but until you are out their experiencing it for yourself you really don’t know what its like. I didn’t know how strong I had to be, but now I do."
On what she can do improve:
"It is just a matter of being strong, holding onto the ball and going up and finishing. It will come."
