Team Notes
The Syracuse defense has held opponents scoreless in 17-of-36 quarters this season.
Syracuse went 2-2 in the red zone against Louisville and is now 29-for-34 (.853) this season.
Senior cornerback Da’Mon Merkerson joined 2010 Orange captains Ryan Bartholomew, Rob Long and Derrell Smith as the game-day captain.
Individual Notes
Sophomore wide receiver Alec Lemon had a career-long 51-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He now has four touchdown catches this season.
Senior running back Delone Carter gained 107 yards and had an eight-yard rushing touchdown against the Cardinals. He surpassed Dee Brown, David Walker and Floyd Little on the Orange career rushing list and is now fifth with 2,724 yards. He now has 10 career 100-yard rushing games. Carter is ninth on SU’s career rushing touchdown list (22) and tied for 12th in career touchdowns (22).
Junior quarterback Ryan Nassib has thrown at least one touchdown pass in nine consecutive games. His 51-yard touchdown pass to Alec Lemon against Louisville in the first quarter is a career long. He has 15 touchdown passes this year, which is tied for seventh on the Syracuse single-season record list. He is tied with Marvin Graves (1993). Nassib’s 18 career touchdown passes is 10th in Syracuse history.
Senior Nick Provo tied his career high with five receptions for 42 yards.
Junior Chandler Jones recovered the first fumble of his career in the second quarter.
Junior Mikhail Marinovich forced his first fumble of the season and the second of his career in the second quarter.
Freshman kicker Ross Krautman has converted 13-of-14 field goals this season, including two against Louisville, which is the most accurate in the BIG EAST.
Junior Dorian Graham had a career-long 37-yard kick return against the Cardinals.
Sophomore offensive tackle Andrew Phillips earned his first career start against Louisville.
