Head Coach Jim Boeheim Quotes
Syracuse University
On Tonight’s Game
“I think the first half we played as well as we can. We have been playing good defense. We had really good movement and got the ball in good places but struggled a little bit offensively the second half. This was a good win for us.”
How did the freshman perform?
“I thought CJ (Fair) was great the first half. I thought Baye (Keita) was tremendous. Dion ( Waiters) had a big shot. Fab (Melo) was good and he is getting better, he is more active.
I don’t think we are playing as well as we could play. I don’t think we played really well offensively yet I think we can get there but we are not there yet; but no one is there yet, it is early on in the year.”
I don’t think we are playing as well as we could play. I don’t think we played really well offensively yet I think we can get there but we are not there yet; but no one is there yet, it is early on in the year.”
What were your impressions of Rick Jackson?
“Rick has been good from day one this year. He has been tremendous and steady for every game for us so far. He was erratic in all the other positions but he has been very good from day one. He is as good as any inside guy you can ask for. I think he has made up his mind, he has been a good rebounder, he doesn’t have help out there and he is taking it upon himself to do a better job. I think he is more focused. The weight loss helps his stamina but he is determined to go get the ball.”
What are your feelings about playing in Madison Square Garden
“We like playing here and we obviously have great support. Our people come out here and we have had great success here for a long time.”
Non Conference Games vs. Conference Games
“The non-conference schedule is the first part and they (those games) are crucial and get you ready for the conference season. The second part is the conference season and that is very important and then there is the Big East Tournament and hopefully another tournament. You can’t get to be a good team unless you start playing well. This team has struggled more on offense than anything. Again we are a little better against man to man but we have a lot of work to do and we have a long way to go to be where we would like to be.”
