Player Postgame Quotes
Syracuse vs. Connecticut
February 24, 2010
Carrier Dome – Syracuse, N.Y.
Nicole Michael, Senior, Forward
On what she thought of the game:
“We just got out-rebounded. We did everything else pretty well. We just rebounded by a lot and that definitely affected the outcome of the game.”
On if they got out-rebounded from positioning or hustle:
“We just didn’t follow the scouting report. Coach emphasized on boxing out, and didn’t box out enough. We had to box out and we didn’t get that done.”
On the play of Maya Moore:
“She had a great game, as Coach said, she had a monster game. She’s just a good player, she hustles night-in and night-out. She doesn’t give up on any play. She’s just a great player overall.”
Juanita Ward, Senior, Forward
On what she thought was the difference between winning and losing the game:
“We got outrebounded.”
On if there was any reason other than rebounding:
“Like Coach said, if you look at the stat sheet, we did everything else that we could do, as far as the stat sheet. We played tit-for-tat with them [Connecticut].”
On what she learned from these stretch of games:
“When the game is physical like that you have to continue to keep your composure. You have to continue to keep going forward. You can’t say, “Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve.” Don’t look backwards. We have to keep moving forward and that’s what we’re going to keep doing.”
On what she thought about Maya Moore:
“She made a lot of shots. When you’re in a rhythm like that, you’re going to knock down some shots. She’s a pretty good player.”
On if she felt the game was slipping away at any point:
“We don’t worry about the score. We’re more worried about being on the court playing. It’s not like we run down the court looking at the scoreboard every single time thinking, ‘Oh we’re up, we’re down.’ It’s more about going up and down the court playing basketball.”
