Syracuse vs. Seton Hall Player Quotes
Syracuse vs. Seton Hall
December 28, 2011
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Scoop Jardine, G, Sr.
Not much contribution to the offense today, but your teammates stepped up with offensive firepower. Explain?
“Yeah, I didn’t play to my capabilities. I had a few nice passes, a couple of decent shots but my teammates, what more can I say about how deep we are. When one guy falls, the others pick him up. We are scary on offense.”
How are you moving forward onto DePaul now?
“I have to continue to be a leader for this team and we know going on the road in the BIG EAST is no easy task for any opponent. We all are going to get better, especially the young guys like Rakeem Christmas and Michael Carter-Williams. This will be their first true test, conference game on the road and I am going to help them through it.
Fab Melo, C, So.
Were you aware how close you were to getting a triple-double?
No, I wasn’t aware. When I got to the bench the guys said you need two rebounds to get a triple double. All I can say was ‘wow, I didn’t realize it.’”
How do you feel about your first ever double-double?
“It feels great, it feels great. I’ve been working a lot and now it is paying off.”
Did you think it was a long time coming or it was primed to happen?”
“No, there will be more for sure. I am going to work a lot and my game is going to get better.”
Fab, you set the school record for most blocks in a game, how special it that to you that you are now in the record books?
“It is special for me; it is special for Syracuse University. It’s all due to great progress I’ve made. It’s great for me.”
Dion Waiters, G, So.
What do you think of the big guy Fab Melo tonight?
“I don’t know who that was out there today. He was like a baby Dwight Howard, monster, beast, he played unbelievable. The way he played today, I’m just happy for him.”
You guys are an offensive minded team, but does it mean something that the defense has kind of been the showcase of this team?
“Yeah, that is what coach stresses about. At the end of the day we just have to buckle down and play our game and we know the offense is going to be there. Our main focus is about defense. The defense leads to consistency. We have to continue to get better and we have one goal in mind and that is to be in New Orleans at the end of the day.”
Any different getting in a BIG EAST game tonight, as to what you guys have played so far?
“No, it is mainly more physical. That’s it basically it.”
