Over a 31 game season, your going to have a couple games where the offense disappeares and you got to grind it out. Was that the case tonight?
“Well Kris probably had two or three layups that went in and then came all the way out and that’s just what happens to us. We will have some games like that but the most important thing is that we are going to continue to keep playing defense and we ended up having a lot a lot of stops and we also got some easy jumps in the first half, so that kind of opened up our lead a little bit.
“I give Marshall some good credit, they are a good team and we knew they were going to come in and be physical and be on the boards like they were. I’m just happy that we got the win and that’s number one in our column. Now we can continue to go on, we have George Washington next.”

Lets talk about the zone, you guys are leading the nation in steals, just talk about the top of the zone, what’s your mentality this season?
“Our whole focus and our whole mind frame up top is to just get it going because it stops so much, and if we can stop the guys up top from getting into the middle, everything opens up and we can get out fast break, as you saw today. Today we got our hands on a lot of good passes and that really opened the game up for us.”
They didn’t hit their first three until well into the second half, was that an emphasis also coming into the game?
“I think it’s just our mind frame to try to work extra hard on defense because the offensive is going to get better, even if we are struggling. But if we pick it up and especially if I pick the defensive tempo up, as soon as I get in I am jumping and I try to make anybody who is up top with bounce, so we can be on our toes. If they try to lob it or anything like that we can get it and go.”
Coach said that the offense really isn’t playing well at all, what do you think the reason for that is?
“I don’t know. We are going to pick our offense up.Wwe just have to call our offense, get into it and get those guys to get the ball, get the rebounds and things like that to make us a better team overall. The offense will come, we are not worried about that, but as long as the defensive tempo is there, everything else will pick up itself.”
