Syracuse vs. Georgetown

Syracuse, N.Y. – Carrier Dome
Student-Athlete Quotes
Scoop Jardine, Junior, Guard
Is this the most disappointing loss because it is Georgetown and because the ball wasn’t falling through the hoop?
“It’s not the fact that the ball didn’t go through the hoop. We had the game won and we lost. That’s tough to swallow. We have to pick our heads up and move forward. We have a tough Louisville team coming up. We just have to play basketball. “
How to do you come back from this loss?
“Continue to play basketball. We just have to play better. We have to get better on the offensive end. I think our defense, for the most part, played really well. Austin Freeman didn’t get shots off, Wright didn’t get shots off. We lost. We need to forget about it, and move forward and play better basketball.”
What do you expect from Louisville?
“A Louisville team - tough on the defensive end. They’re great against our zone, but I don’t care who we play, we just need to go out and play Syracuse basketball. We have tough team in Louisville, but we just need to continue to play our basketball.”
C.J. Fair, Freshman, Forward
What do you have to do to improve on the high three-point percentage of your opponents?
“That’s going to happen because that’s the only way you can beat the zone - to shoot well from the outside. We played well on defense, but we got a little lazy at the end. We got too comfortable with ourselves. We slipped up and they got a couple of back-door lay ups.”
What are your thoughts on playing with three freshmen when Rick Jackson left the game?
“Like coach Boeheim said, we’re 20 plus games in so we’re not considered freshman anymore. Myself, Dion [Waiters} and Baye [Mousse Keita] have been in this situation before, so it wasn’t anything new.”
What happened when you got back-to back-layups -- when Scoop [Jardine] penetrated and got you the ball?
“Scoop [Jardine] did a good job penetrating so I just tried to go behind the defense and get in an open spot. He did a good job finding me.”
Rick Jackson, Senior, Forward
Did you feel like you were out of a rhythm after you were out for so long?
“I think maybe after sitting out, you don’t want to come back in and get a foul. I didn’t want to get a foul, so I kind of played timid."
Did it feel good to see Baye [Moussa Keita] and C.J. [Fair] play so well?
“Yeah, they did a great job when I wasn’t in there of controlling the middle. They did a great job of blocking shots and rebounding. You couldn’t ask for any more from them.”
