Alfred O. Quinn, 1936 (Lacrosse)
A Syracuse native, Alfred O. Quinn attended Nottingham High School and entered Syracuse University in the fall of 1932. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1936. While a student at SU, Quinn was a member of the varsity lacrosse team for four years. He also participated in intramural football and was selected All-University Quarterback in 1934 and 1935. He led his team to the University Championship for Intramural Football in 1935. Quinn was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, received the Monx Head Junior Honorary Award. He was a member of the American Society Civil Engineers. Upon graduating from Syracuse University, Quinn attended Chattanooga (TN) College of Law, earning his degree in 1940. While a student, he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority as a civil engineer. From 1943-46 he was commissioned a U.S. Navy Officer where he was involved in photo intelligence. Following his discharge from the service he returned to Syracuse University as an associate professor of photogrammetry and civil engineering for six years. For the next 15 years, Quinn worked for the Aero Service Corp in Philadelphia, PA . He founded Quinn and Associates in Horsham, PA, with two partners. The firm handles photogrammetric mapping for government and private clients. He presently works as a consultant in Wilmington, NY. Throughout the years Quinn has published several articles and papers, as well as a textbook, Elements of Photogrammetry. Quinn served as chairman of several planning boards, hospital committees, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He is also very active in the United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NY. Quinn married Doris Harriman, also a graduate from Syracuse University, in 1937. They have four children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
