Roy Simmons Jr., 1959 (Lacrosse)
Simmons, Jr. is a 1959 graduate of Syracuse. He played on his father's (Roy, Sr.) undefeated lacrosse team in 1957 along with Jim Brown. He was team captain the following season and played in the North-South All Star Game. He also lettered in boxing. Roy, Jr. became freshman lacrosse coach at Syracuse in 1959 and became head varsity coach in 1970. He earned Coach of the Year honors in 1980 and has taken his team to the NCAA Division I championship game the past two seasons. The Orange won the title in 1983. Roy is highly successful artist who has had many exhibits and one man shows.
