Student-Athlete Quotes
Carrier Dome –Syracuse, N.Y.
Brandon Triche, senior, guard
The first half was sort of slow and the second half wasn't -- was there any hangover throughout this thing?
“It might of looked like that but I think it was just two teams who both play zone, so the game is obviously going to be slower. We both played each other tough and overall it was great teamwork.”
In the second half things did open up – more scoring, more free-throws. So what happened?
“We missed a lot of open shots before and overall it was one of those games when it wasn't going to be up and down. We tried our best to get into transition, but they took their time and we took our time. We didn't get a lot of points inside, so we struggled because of that."
How did you feel going to the foul line at the end of the game?
“I felt pretty comfortable, I missed the shot but I will definitely make the next one.”
Michael Carter-Willams, sophomore, guard
You guys have Villanova for the second time in two weeks. How does it help or hurt that you play a team that your so familiar with?
“It helps and hurts us. We know how they're going to defend and how they're going to attack our zone, so we can do a better job on their zone and better job attacking their defense.”
The last time they didn't have time to prepare for James (Southerland) being out, but this time they do. How do you expect that they will come at you differently?
“I think they are going to try and keep forcing me to score the ball, and I know Brandon (Triche) will get going and the rest of the team will step up.”
Did you personally do anything differently the second half?
“I started utilizing the inside and tried to pull a jump shot.”
Jerami Grant, freshman, forward
As far as you played today, you didn't add as many points as you did the last game, so what can you say about today?
“Well I feel like I still came out and was aggressive and even though I didn't score as many points as the last couple of games, I feel like it was a good win for us – a tough win for us, and I think we can build off this.”
Do you take this win and the Louisville win as true wins or do you feel like the team lost in a way because it was so close?
“I feel like it was a win mentally. As a team we came together at the end of both games and we had confidence in ourselves and our teammates and that helped us pull out the victory.”
