WIDE RECEIVERS
Return to 2013 Football Preview
Coach Rob Moore is one of the links between the 2012 and 2013 coaching staffs and he has a number of slots to fill in his wide receiver unit prior to the upcoming season opener. Gone from the lineup are first-team All- performer Alec Lemon and Marcus Sales. The duo combined for 136 catches, 1,952 yards and 15 touchdowns last fall. In comparison, the returning wide receivers accumulated 60 receptions.
The most experienced of the group is junior Jarrod West, who hauled in 43 passes, including two for touchdowns, in 2012. Senior Christopher Clark (11 receptions, 2 TDs) and speedy junior Jeremiah Kobena (6 receptions, 2 TDs) have flashed big-play capabilities when given the opportunity. Senior Adrian Flemming also figures to be in the mix for a starting job.
The junior class includes Quinta Funderburk, who sat out last year after transferring from Arkansas. Macauley Hill and Franklin Santos are both entering their third year with the Orange.
Sophomore Keenan Hale was an all-state pick in Georgia before enrolling. Alvin Cornelius III, the 2011 NYSHSFCA Class AA Player of the Year, redshirted last year, as did 2011 Maryland All-State selection Ben Lewis.
Three freshmen will be in preseason camp – Sean Avant from Miramar High School (Fla.), Brisly Estime from Atlantic Community High School (Fla.), and Riverview Gardens High School product Corey Winfield.
