Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Louisville vs. Syracuse
February 18, 2015
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Tyler Roberson, Sophomore, Forward
You guarded Montrezl Harrell. Coach said the defense really stepped up in the second half, how did you feel out there?
`“I think in the first half he got a lot of easy buckets off rebounds, but in the second half we got more aggressive and made it harder for him to do that.”
What does getting this win and getting over the hump of a win versus a good team like Louisville do for the team?
“Feels good. We don’t have many games left so we want to win as many as we can and I think it’s a great win heading into Saturday.”
Kaleb Joseph, Freshman, Guard
How do you feel about Rakeem Christmas’ play tonight?
“Rakeem was great and has been playing great all year. He stepped up and made a lot of great plays tonight.”
Take us through that play with two minutes left with that little floater. It was a big basket.
“I caught the ball at the top of the key and saw the shot clock was running down so I just wanted to get into the lane and make a play.”
Michael Gbinije, Junior, Guard
Did you feel like you were more of a secondary option tonight?
“Yeah, Rakeem was definitely our go-to tonight and when he is performing well, he is a beast down there. Playing against Montrezl Harrell, he still came out with more than 20 points.”
How important was Tyler Roberson in the post?
“Definitely very important. We had to get the ball in the middle which caused confusion for their defense. Getting the ball in the middle opens up options for everybody.”
Rakeem Christmas, Senior, Center
Coming off the loss to Duke on Saturday and then winning this game, how do you feel?
“We needed a win like this, especially it being a tough game. We needed this to keep us going into the next game.”
What was your mindset coming into tonight?
“We just told everybody to keep their heads up because we knew tonight was going to be a big game. All we had to do was have to play hard and we knew we would be good.”
