Coach Manning Quotes - Wake Forest
Postgame Quotes
Wake Forest head coach Danny Manning
Syracuse vs. Wake Forest
Jan. 24, 2017 | Carrier Dome
Opening Statement:
“I thought in the first half we came around on offense on a fairly decent clip. I don’t think either team particularly shot the ball well. When we came in, we had a bit of a lead. In the second half I think Syracuse came high. We shot too high in terms of the field-goal percentage. We have to do a much better job of defending and getting the 50-50 balls. They made more plays than us in the stretch of the second half.”
What kind of trouble did John Gillon give you? Is there anything that you wish you would’ve done differently?
“I wish we would have played better ball-street defense. We demolished him (John Gillon) in the first half. The second half is where he turned the corner, forced and made plays for his teammates. We have to do a better job at ball-street defense so that it does not turn the corner like that in the second half.”
Do you think rebounding impacted what they were trying to do?
“I think that they came with some timely second-chance opportunities. I think we did a good job at second-chance opportunities. We got 21 points in. Mainly, the free-throw box out that went out of bounds and they got possession. They did a pretty good job on the glass, but I thought our efforts were good.”
