Head Coach Jim Boeheim Quotes - St. Bonaventure
Syracuse Men's Basketball
Syracuse vs. St. Bonaventure
December 22, 2017
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Head Coach Jim Boeheim
Opening Statement:
“You know this was a game we couldn’t get the ball in the basket. We’ve had these games.
“I thought the first half we did the same thing we did against Kansas. We allowed one guard to shoot it. The second half we took him out and it forced other people to shoot and they didn’t make anything, but when we did get our opportunities, we missed free throws, we missed a big dunk there, we had a 2-on-1 fastbreak and didn’t convert there. When you’re behind, you’ve got to fight through, you’ve got to make those.
“This team fought. They did everything they could to get back in it, but it’s hard to win when you shoot 30 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line. It’s hard to win those games. But this team fights as hard as they possibly can and that’s all you can ask for. But offensively, we weren't very good tonight.”
Just what you can say about Jaylen Adams?
"Well, the first half he was great. The second half we took him out of the game.”
On the last possession in regulation, what were you hoping to get there?
"Just what we got. Ty (Battle) got an eight-footer and Oshae (Brissett) got a layup. Same thing happened at the end of the Georgetown game. We missed two easier shots actually than we missed in the Georgetown game. That’s the way it goes.”
When Tyus (Battle) is struggling offensively like that do you have to change anything?
"You know when you have a great player, they’re going to have bad nights. You just have to keep going to him. That’s what we’ll do.”
Did they do anything that made you shoot the ball poorly?
"They played good defense, just like we did. They did a good job. I think we got some good shots. We just didn’t make them.”
How detrimental was losing (Marek) Dolezaj and (Paschal) Chukwu in the span of 11 seconds?
"It’s part of the game. You have to adjust to it.”
