Syracuse vs. Boston College
January 24, 2018
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Tyus Battle, So., G
Everyone has talked about the offense and how it has been kind of stagnate at times. Is that the half you’ve been looking for?”
“Yeah. I felt like we were hitting everything. Oshae (Brissett) hit a three, that was nice. But we’re just gapping their defense and getting open shots.”
What was the emphasis coming into today’s game after the eight days off?
“I think just running them off the line. We knew that they like to shoot a lot of threes. So we were just trying to run their players off the line and make them take tough shots.”
What was the difference in this game versus previous games?
“Our defense was pretty good tonight. We are moving, making deflections, things like that. When we move like that, we are really tough to beat and it makes it easier for us on the offensive end because we have an easier transition.”
Frank Howard, Jr., G
After coming back from the break, what do you guys think about this win?
“We just wanted to all work on our movement on offense and defense. On defense, you want to be engaged and I think we did that tonight. Probably our best half, offensively, in terms of movement and scoring the ball. We got a lot of easy shots and picked up our pace.”
Syracuse has been one of the slower offenses in the country. Is picking up the pace something you expect to carry through the rest of the season?
“Definitely. We want to get back to the way we started the year, when we had a lot more movement. Getting up and down the court, moving the ball, that’s something we need to get back to.”
The offense has always seems to flow through you and Tyus (Battle). How nice is it to have other guys help that from here on out?
“That makes us dangerous when we can get contributions from everybody, Paschal (Chukwu) especially had a great game.”
