Jim Boeheim Quotes - Notre Dame
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Notre Dame
Saturday, Jan. 6
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim
Opening Statement:
“Well, we’re just having trouble scoring. Our defense has been good all year. I think that Notre Dame just got physical with us and our inside guys are thin and they just pounded us on the boards.”
“But, really we made a couple really bad turnovers during the game. And then one at that the end of the game. But we’re going to be in those kinds of games.”
“We cannot score. And it’s been a struggle and it’s probably going to continue to be a struggle for us to score points. They’re battling as hard as they can, but this is really the first game that someone got physical against us.”
How has Oshae (Brissett) responded to the defense being thrown at him?
“Well, they’re not fouling him and ironically today he made his threes and missed everything going to the basket. They were good shots they’re all good shots.”
How is his (Oshae Brissett’s) mid-range game coming?
“He hasn’t been making threes, he made them tonight. He missed two pull-ups, but the rest were all going to the basket.”
Can you speak to the minutes Bourama (Sidibe) gave you down the stretch there?
“He made a couple good plays. He’s moving, he feels better. Made a couple really good plays. Hopefully that’ll get his legs back up.”
Did it hurt you when you had to take Paschal out?
“It hurts. He’s a rim protector. But, Bourama made two really good plays on offense and made a really good play on defense, as well.”
Dennis (DuVal’s) jersey raised in the rafters today. What does that mean to you?
“He was a great player. Dennis was a great player. Probably one of the underrated players in Syracuse basketball history. He was a great player and it’s a well deserved honor for Dennis.”
What are you going to emphasize heading into Virginia?
“We work everyday on our offense. We’re going to have to get better. Virginia is one of the best defensive teams in the country and I think they held North Carolina to 49 point today. That’s a tremendous challenge for us, no question about that. They’re playing great. They have great defense and offense this year. I think they’re showing that they’re one of the top five or six team in the country. It’s going to be a great challenge. This week’s going to be a challenge with them and Florida State. But, this league is a tremendous challenge and we just have to work, get better and keep working.”
