What are your thoughts on the free-throw shooting of the team today?
“It’s just a mental approach. You have to go to the free throw line and make them. We just have to be more confident when going to the line.”
Is driving the lane an area you can significantly improve in moving forward?
“Coach wants me to be a player, not just a three-point shooter and I know that I can do that. I just have to take the right mental approach.”
Will the team need to adjust its toughness on the interior moving forward?
“It is not really something you can teach. You cannot teach toughness. They were physical today and we are going to face physical teams so we just have to adapt.”
Frank Howard, Sr., G
What has been the issue with the team not being able to consistently make free throws?
“It’s just mental. It’s something that started in practice. We missed free throws a little bit yesterday and that carried over a little bit and we all missed some today. In that aspect of the game, I expect us to be better. But I think the game is a little bigger than the free throws and we just didn’t execute what we were trying to do today.”
What was the issue with Stith moving from the first half to the second half?
“Just locating him. I think they had four or five corner threes today. Someone talked about almost every three they hit today. We weren't engaged in the second half, we laid down, and we got beat.”
Tyus Battle, Jr., G
What changed in the second half?
“We were stagnant on offense and we weren’t making shots. Defensively, we were leaving way too many wide-open threes and if we aren’t making shots on the offensive end and our defense is bad, that is what the outcome is going to be.”
Is the inability to hit free throws mentally becoming an issue for the team?
“We just were not making free throws today. I guess that is just how it goes sometimes, but we have to better at the line. We missed twelve so that is the difference in the game.”
