Player Quotes - St. Bonaventure
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. St. Bonaventure
Saturday, December 29, 2018
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Elijah Hughes, R-Jr., F
What’s changed to cause this winning streak?
“Just getting after it more in practice. (We’re) trying to emphasize getting out on the break, because that’s where we have fun – get lobs, dunks, all that cool stuff. Just getting out and getting stops on defense.”
How gratifying is it to put in this complete performance to close out non-conference play?
“It’s cool. We just have to focus and get ready for the ACC now.”
Tyus Battle, Jr., G
How has the mentality changed over the last few games?
“The game’s a lot more fun when you’re up by 20. That helps. We’re just trying to get out on a run and play good defense. We’re just trying to communicate more, talk more. Good things have been happening so far.”
What’s changed on defense?
“Not much. We’re trying to get out on the shooters. Paying more attention to scout. That’s really it. I think our defense over the last couple of games has been good, our scoring was the problem. But if we get out and run in transition and get easier buckets, it won’t be a problem.”
You didn’t miss any shots from the floor today, was that something different or just one of those days?
“I was getting pretty easy buckets. A bunch of layups, a couple pull-ups. Those are shots I usually make. I haven’t done that since high school, I don’t think. That’s pretty cool.”
How do you feel heading into conference play?
“We’re feeling pretty good. We have Notre Dame, a really good team. I haven’t beat them, going into my third year playing them. That’s going to be a good one, and that’s the one I want.”
Oshae Brissett, So., F
How did it feel to be out there today?
“It felt great. This is one of those games where you always have to make the right play. I’m glad everyone was able to contribute today. Easy win.”
Did the time off help you reset?
“I feel like the last three days in practice were really good. I felt that guys were getting at it and working really hard, before and after practice. We’re more prepared now and in a different state mentally. We know what it takes to get to the next level and we’re just going to keep pushing.”
How do you feel heading into conference play?
“We feel great. Something I want to emphasize to the new guys is that no game is going to be easy now. It doesn’t matter who we play, it doesn’t matter what their schedule is. Any team can beat you because they’re all working toward the same goal: to be at the top of the ACC.”
