Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning Quotes
Syracuse Men's Basketball
Syracuse vs. Wake Forest
February 11, 2018
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Opening Statement
“I thought our team did a much better job at moving the basketball and creating shot opportunities. They had a lot of hockey assists where they were making the extra pass that led to a shot. In the second half we were much more active, just not active enough. We have to do a better job of getting to the free throw line. I know that free throw count is a bit jaded because we were fouling them late in the game, but I thought by the definition of a hand-check that there should have been a few more of those calls.”
What type of problems did Tyus Battle pose for you today?
“Really talented basketball player and the stat line that he had tonight was really impressive. Any time that you shoot one less free throw than an entire team you know that you’re doing something really good. He shot the ball at a high clip that was really efficient.”
Coach Boeheim said he had never seen a team hit six straight threes at the Carrier Dome. In the first half you were 1-for-10. Was it that they were just starting to fall or were you maybe getting better looks in the second half?
“I thought we did a better job being ready on the catch. In the first half we were passive on the catch. When you’re passive on the catch against their length and athleticism, they’ll close out to you right away. I thought Mitch (Wilbekin) did a really good job at knocking down some shots and opening things up for us. Then the ball moved much better."
