Head Coach Jim Boeheim Quotes - NC State
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. NC State

Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Head Coach Jim Boeheim
Opening Statement:
“I think the game was started out with 10 turnovers in the first half. We can’t do that. That’s not what we’ve done. That’s why we’ve won these games. We were better in the second half but the first half – I just thought that just put us in a bad position.
Paschal’s (Chukwu) back was bothering him, Bourama (Sidibe) was sore so we went with a smaller team, smaller lineup. I thought Matt (Moyer) did a really good job, I thought for not playing (against Wake Forest) he did a really good job.
“Oshae (Brissett) made a couple of big buckets to get us back in there but the game was decided when we didn’t get to the 3-point shooters three times in the last five or six possessions and gave them really good looks from the three. They’re a good shooting team. First half I thought we did a much better job covering the 3-point line -- second half we didn’t. I thought that was really the difference in the game. Similar to the last game, we covered the 3-point line pretty good in the first half and we didn’t in the second half. We were able to overcome it in the last game.”
Was there a reason that you went with a smaller lineup?
“No. Those were the only two guys available. You can’t play if you are hurt. They tried but, they just couldn’t.”
Paschal [Chukwu] seemed to be struggling. Was there a reason for that?
“He tweaked his back.”
What were your impressions about Oshea’s [Brissett] play tonight?
“He got in early foul trouble and he was very passive for a long time. He picked it up in the second half. He’s a good shooter. He made two monster plays, some good plays. He made a couple big threes to get us back in there. We didn’t defend that last 3-point-play and that’s really the story of the game. We didn’t defend the 3-point line, two games in a row.”
What did you see from Matt [Moyer] tonight that you liked?
“He was good, he hustled. He made a couple plays, played good defense, he was really solid.”
With all the turnovers what did NC State’s defense do to cause that?
“We just made some bad plays, bad decisions.”
