Clemson Head Coach Quotes
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Clemson
Wednesday, January 9, 2019
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Clemson Head Coach Brad Brownell
Opening Statement:
“Congrats to Syracuse. It was kind of an ugly game and certainly both teams didn’t shoot well. We obviously had some trouble with the zone and weren’t able to get in a flow in the first half and the second half wasn’t much better. I thought we hung in there defensively. Our defense was pretty good. They have some guys that can make guarded shots and we obviously just didn’t play well enough. They got us with the press – we had two turnovers against the press. All in all, an ugly game but they just outplayed us a little bit tonight.”
What kind of challenge does Marek Dolezaj present?
“He’s a five man who can make the three and pass the ball the way he does as a skill player. He continues to open the floor allowing (Oshae) Brissett to post up a little bit and giving Syracuse back-door cut opportunities. He’s also improved defensively, doing a better job defending in the post. He just looks calmer this year and playing at a higher level.”
Did the press throw you guys off a little bit today?
“I think a little bit. We did practice against it for two days. Down by their bench in a free throw situation, I thought to be honest with you our guys were just not 100 percent alert. Our point guard was on the bench and Marcquise (Reed) threw it over our guy’s head. We had two turnovers against the press, which were big plays.”
