Syracuse Player Quotes - Clemson
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Clemson
Wednesday, January 9, 2019
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Elijah Hughes, R-Jr., F
What was the difference tonight?
“Defense. We really locked in on defense. We got a lot of key stops and got to the shooters. We were more locked in.”
Where did you see openings for Marek Dolezaj tonight?
“He’s a player. I’m not really surprised. It’s what he does. He does it in practice. He’s a player, he’s not just a defensive guy. He’s a player so I expect that stuff from him. He did a great job in making reads and taking charges. Just being physical. He’s an underweight guy, but he just fits in there.”
Frank Howard, Sr., G
How did the offense feel today?
“(The offense being balanced) that’s what we want. We want games like this. They were a great defensive team, so we knew it was going to be kind of a low-scoring game. You still want to have that, everybody across the board getting up and down the floor, making plays. We’re just trying to make that happen.”
What’s been the difference for Bourama Sidibe the last few games?
“His knee. It’s been the first few weeks where he’s been, not pain-free, but minimal pain. He’s getting his body right. Our staff has done a great job with him. He’s been working so I’m happy to see him finally coming around and getting his body right. It’s showing.”
Do you feel the momentum building?
“The momentum for us starts in practice. I think we’ve had some great practices since the Christmas break. Things have become a habit and our norm has changed. We’re playing a lot faster, trying to get up and down the court. We just have to put it together for a whole game. We’re getting better. People are trying to get better. People are excited to get better. It’s that change of attitude and sense of urgency that’s done a good job.”
Marek Dolezaj, So., F
Does coming off the court to cheers from your fans make you feel good?
“Of course it makes me feel good, but I’m more focused on my game. I try to do my best and always give 100 percent. I think the people see that.”
Bourama Sidibe, So., F
Was a focus to keep Clemson out of the middle?
“Yeah, that was the idea: don’t let Elijah (Thomas) get the ball down low, but at the same time don’t let them get a wide-open shot from beyond the free throw line either.”
